Convenient location, excellent staff, very small standard room wit full size bed

The hotel's location is right next to the Buckingham Palace and about five minutes walk from the Victoria underground and train station. Hotel's staff is excellent . There is a complimentary internet but it does not always work well in a room. The standard room with a double bed was very small without a dresser. So we had to live out of a suitcase for a week. There is a place to hang cloth up on hangers only. The breakfast was good but pricey, we got a special package that included our breakfast. The hotel has an old charm with a military motif and nice restaurants. There a couple of nice restaurants right across the street towards the underground . We really enjoyed Noodle-Noodle and an Buckingham Indian Bakti. It is also close to St. James and Green park, about 15 min walk to The Westminster Abby . The bus stop is near hotel for sightseeing or take it to see Harrods, Royal Albert Hall or Trafalgar square which is less expensive than train and takes about 15-20 min to get there. There are two bottles of water and a tea pot with a selection of flavors in a room also.

Great New Years Vacation

The Rubens Hotel is awesome... this was our 2nd trip to London and both times stayed at the Rubens... the staff goes out of their way to know you by name and make you feel welcome every minute you are there. It is a beautiful hotel, the prices are fair and the service and surroundings are perfect. I will stay there every time I travel to London.

Great value and very friendly

The staff were excellent, extremely helpful and friendly. The room was small compared to many good hotel rooms in the States, but for London, very spacey. Excellent shower and bath. All in all, a great value and experience, we will definitely use the Rubens again.

Location, Location, Location

The Rubens At The Palace is a beautiful old hotel situated across the street from Buckingham Palace, the Mews and the Queen's Gallery. It is within walking distance to Westminister Abbey, Parliment, Big Ben, St. James Park, restaurants, two theaters and Victoria Station. We even walked back from the "Eye". The staff is quite accomodating and friendly. Loved the doorman!

Wonderful little Italian restaurant (run by Italians) on Buckingham Palace Road one and one half blocks heading toward Victoria Station. Turn left when you exit the Rubens. It is on the same side of the street.

Fantastic Hotel Stay

We had a great stay. The staff were all super helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and you can't beat the location. This was our 2nd stay and we will stay there again. My 3 year old left her favorite doll in the dining room and when we got back back from sight seeing the staff had already figured it out whose it was and left it in our room. My daughter was thrilled. Also the breakfast was fantastic and again great service. Big Thanks

An old and tired hotel

This is an historic hotel in a very central location. It is an old property in several important aspects: The floors are uneven and creak badly throughout the building. Most of the doors squeek. Walls are paper thin and fixtures are outdated (our travelling companions were in a room with updated fixtures). The elevator is slow and small for the 4 floors it must service.

The underground can be accessed at Victoria station 2 blocks away and will get you almost anywhere quickly. All day pass is available for a little over 7 pounds.
