Smallest room ever

When my wife and I arrived at hotel found couple in front of us were having problems with their reservation and overheard staff telling them hotel was full for weekend with no spare rooms, did not think this would affect us until I opened door to the room we had. Smallest room I have ever been in. Bed was jammed between a wall and writing bureau, there were no drawers of any sort to unpack clothes, no bedside tables and had to climb over my wife to get in and out of bed. This would have been a disappointing single room but simply cannot be regarded as a double. We only were in London for 2 nights and any time we were in the reception there seemed to be about 15 people waiting to be attended to so did not want to waste any more of our time waiting in the queue to complain. When we left room on first morning at 10 am and returned at 4pm the room had not been cleaned even tho I had put sign out for room to be serviced.I did complain on check out and duty manager seemed to realise straight away there was a problem ,she apologised ,said because we had prepaid for room she could not give any kind of refund ??? but waived the bill for the 2 drinks we had previous night. Also offered a cmplimentary night in hotel but I explained I had no intention of using their hotel again. Annoying thing is they obviously know this room is not suitable as a double but they will continue to charge unsuspecting couples in the future.

A long weekend in the heart of London

Waldorf keeps its good traditions. The room was lovely, the bathroom good (in UK standards :) ), and the location of course perfect for strolling the central London. The only minus is the bar - the wine list was not that impressive, so we rather went somewhere else. Some of the staff obviously are practicants but it did not really matter.

Les Deux Salons. Lovely French food. Obviously full on a Saturday night but there is enough room, and the staff is excellent!

Special Birthday

I had booked this as a special treat for my husbands 50th. arriving at the hotel was extremely pleased when the very efficeint and polite receptionist advised that our room was ready at 8.50am, then disaapointed to discover that my original booking which I had booked at at end of 2010 was a room only deal and not a 50% discount on b&b offer. Though we were asked if we would like breakfast there was no mention of addtiional costs or further information offered on this. We then went to our room and whilst very nice it was extremely small for a double, the curtains were hanging off some of the rings a couple of the bulbs were out on the very low ceiling light. Had a few drinks in the lounge once again pleasant attentive staff, which I would expect with a 12% service charge being added. Had a very nice stay but would only come again if this hotel was on a special offer, been to other Hiltons which have been just as nice and service as good and not paid anything like those rates.

Good, But Not Great

We enjoyed the hotel however it was not what we expected from a 5 star Waldorf at all. We booked an executive room, a small suite. The carpet was old and dirty but the room was comfortable. The gym is not run by the hotel hence it is full of "outside" people pumping iron. Not a great environment at all. The breakfast was, as always in Hilton's, great. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times

Well Located

This was a beautiful hotel that was very well located. It was within walking distance from the Covent garden underground station (less than 0.25 miles). Bus stops were right in front of the hotel. It was within walking distance from Trafalgar square (0.5 miles), Leicester square and Piccadilly Circus (within a mile). There is an LA fitness in the bottom of the hotel. I stayed in a king executive room. It was extremely spacious and well appointed. The biggest disappointment for this hotel is there is no wi-fi. There is wired high speed access but it is quite expensive -- 15 pounds for 24 hours. Keep in mind this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Was shocked for the price you pay there is no internet access included.

If you take a right out of the front door within a few meters there is an Italian sandwich shop. Highly recommend if you want something quick to eat -- very tasty.

Old values

We took the opportunity to stay in the Waldorf to complete a luxury trip to a show. You could certainly see how in the past it would have been considered exclusive accommodation but it is no longer the case. The staff were very attentive and gave a lot of help with regard to the valet parking, dry cleaning, and even shoe repairs. The facilities however were only on a par with a lot of major European hotels. In fact, breakfast was underwhelming, afternoon tea was definitely overpriced for the quantity served, and the coffee served at the hotel day and night was appalling and seemed a very cheap blend. I expected an on-site hair/beauty salon but there wasn't one. However, it lived up to the image expected of old, traditional standards and we enjoyed our 3-night stay.

Rooms are modern which does take

Rooms are modern which does take away the warm cosy feel, however clean and comfortable, check in was a little slow, as we have recently stayed at the Savoy and can compare the two it was very noticeable, we had access to the executive lounge, although this was a good and worthwhile addition it was a little small, this was more of a problem at breakfast time. apart from the above the hotel was very nice, location was excellent close to Covent Garden and theatres and and I think we made a good choice

Nice location, questionable service

Location is great as it's nearby most mentionable sites and by my office, but service there always seems to be lacking. Two colleagues of mine were a day late due to a cancelled late-night airline flight, and their rates were bumped up to rack rate so they lost their early booking discounts... little to no acknowledgement from hotel staff and a couple of disenchanted guests who were paying for a week-long stay at extraordinary rates.

Excellent location for Convent

Excellent location for Convent Garden, Trafalgar Square and West End. Lots of buses go past the hotel so it is really easy to get back to from anywhere in London. The gym is well fitted out and busy in the mornings. Only downside was lack of blind in the bathroom and no table either. When the sun comes up at 4am it would be nice to be able to block out the light.
