Great location, luxury, great value.
Fabulous location in Mayfair . . . and a great place to arrive at after landing at Heathrow. The reception staff is very well-trained and pleasant; the lobby is wood and stone that appears to have been a 1960's design very well maintained. The rooms are not large, but are ample; the bathrooms are modern and spotless. WiFi is free - and there really is no nickel-and-diming for other items. The hotel has several restaurants, although I only tried the breakfast room and the bar/restaurant. Breakfast is served, not a buffet, and the porridge, wheat toast, fruit and coffee were first rate. The menu at the lobby bar/restaurant was not extensive, but I particularly liked the Mediterranean vegetable sandwich on rough wheat bread: an excellent meal to have after a long flight, and light enough have without feeling stuffed and lethargic. The rooms are very well isolated acoustically, air conditioned, and the windows open as well. All in all, the Westbury is well run and well maintained, a great value near great shopping, Saville Row, and the best of the West End. I paid more than the cost of this room to stay in London over 20 years ago.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Two unique London shops are in the Burlington Arcade: Pickett's leather shop, and PenFriend. Pickett's is run by Trevor Pickett, a very creative fellow who has brought together some of the best British leather items - briefcases, belts, etc. - that can be had. PenFriend is probably England's best pen shop, principally for older pens but also some new U.K. items. It is staffed by very knowledgeable pen people, and seems to be a center of the local pen community as well as very well known by pen afficianados in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Location excellent but room facilities
Location excellent but room facilities rather tired, despite refurbishment. Simple issues add up--no full length mirror and aged hairdryer in desk for example. No tea/coffee and room service astronomical!! Nice people but better value elsewhere in area.

Great location
The hotel staff was very helpful. This is a very low key, quiet hotel located close to everything. It is situated in the NYC equivalent of Madison Avenue - all the top shops and designers but also a short walk to Oxford Street and Regent Street for more affordable stores.

Short walk from hotel
The Westbury is located close to two Underground stations -- Bond Street and Oxford Circus and is a short walk to Buckingham Palace, Soho, Picadilly Circus, etc. The location is excellent -- we were always 20-30 minutes away from the hotel and after a full day of sightseeing it made it very bearable.

Unable to check in until 2.45.
Unable to check in until 2.45. Bathroom small and tired. Room size ok, A/C not working room very warm and decor very worn. Not very good value for money, overpriced and overated. Breakfast is a joke we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though the breakfast room was half empty. The organisation and service after that was not much better for a overpriced £26.00 per person breakfast. I have stayed in good hotels all over the world and this was not one of them! The hotel is relying on its excellent location if it did not have this it would struggle to fill its rooms. I was embarrased that people from all over the world are using such a overated overpriced Hotel, even for London.
