Quaint place, but needs a bit of work
This hotel has an excellent location between two large underground stations and many bus stops. The room was small, but well furnished. The staff was very accommodating when we explained that the bed were too hard. Unfortunately the only thing they could do was place two blankets under our covers, but it did help a bit. The toilet is very old and initially it took us 20 tries to get things down. After telling the staff, they explained that it's rather old and you might have to flush twice or 3 times with 15 minutes breaks in between. When I explained how many times we tried, they went up and fixed it. Just be sure to warn your partner if you made a number 2 and are waiting to flush one more time!

Good value for the price
The price we paid for the room did not include the breakfast, so it was a good value for the room. We have stayed at this hotel many times and would recommend it. The Thisle Hyde Park is my first choice of hotel in the Paddington area.

The best food prices and good food are at the pubs. You need to order food and drinks at the bar. You take the drinks to the table and they will bring you the food.

A walk in the park
Nice and clean in a great location. Hyde Park is right across the street. Hotel is very close to Queensway and Lancaster Gate tube stations. Paddington is just a 15-minute walk. Two important notes: 1) There is another Thistle hotel one block to the east, and 2) Major construction next door, so jackhammers at 8am on weekdays.

No More Chances
We have stayed here on two previous trips to London. Each time there has been a decline in service. Had to request a room change on this trip, because #220 was awful! The room phone did not work; window would not open, and it looked out onto a recessed roof area that was littered with dirty insulation and plumbing.(Many thanks to the 2nd desk clerk, who found us a different room for our 1 week stay.) Room 402 was much better...spotless, but amenities were scaled way back from last year. No concierge anymore,either. The desk clerk who checked us in had never heard of Orbitz (!), so I will be watching my credit card bill to be sure that I haven't been charged twice by the hotel. The location of this hotel is so convenient - Kensington Gardens, Paddington, Lancaster Gate tube stop - but each time we stay, we notice a deterioration in the little things. Next time, we will give other hotels in this neighborhood a try. The Thistle Hyde Park has used up its last chance.

Plenty of good eating places nearby on Queensway. Notting Hill is just a couple more blocks away, as well, but do not eat at the hotel. $$$$!

Great location, comfortable room
Great location. Staff was friendly and nice but it took 3 days to get information on Spa services. Maid staff leaves early on weekends so we were rushed from our room. Nice size, clean room with view of Hyde Park in the upgrade double room. Unfortunately, dinner was not served in the dining room until 6:30PM which was late for me. I would stay here again.

Potentially a very good hotel
Unfortunately there were maintenance work on process and scaffholding all outside the hotel. The air condinioning wasn't working and in the bathroom no air extracting unit. The toilet wasn't flashing properly.
