Thistle Hyde Park offers a refined, intimate haven at the heart of London. The hotel, which dates from Victorian times, has a cosy, relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of a Pall Mall private-member's club, with the old and the new blending seamlessly throughout.
As the name suggests, our newly-refurbished hotel overlooks Hyde Park, once Henry VIII's private hunting ground and now one of London's most famous features. The Serpentine, Rotten Row and Speakers' Corner have been its defining landmarks since the 18th Century; a more recent addition is the memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales.
At Thistle Hyde Park, we have 54 luxury bedrooms, including Executive rooms, studios and suites, and three elegant meeting rooms, the largest seating 35 people. There's limited on-site car parking available at an additional charge.
With superb views over the Park and Kensington Gardens, we're a comfortable base from which to enjoy the West End's theatres and shops, with Oxford Street, Park Lane and Mayfair all within easy reach.

No More Chances
We have stayed here on two previous trips to London. Each time there has been a decline in service. Had to request a room change on this trip, because #220 was awful! The room phone did not work; window would not open, and it looked out onto a recessed roof area that was littered with dirty insulation and plumbing.(Many thanks to the 2nd desk clerk, who found us a different room for our 1 week stay.) Room 402 was much better...spotless, but amenities were scaled way back from last year. No concierge anymore,either. The desk clerk who checked us in had never heard of Orbitz (!), so I will be watching my credit card bill to be sure that I haven't been charged twice by the hotel. The location of this hotel is so convenient - Kensington Gardens, Paddington, Lancaster Gate tube stop - but each time we stay, we notice a deterioration in the little things. Next time, we will give other hotels in this neighborhood a try. The Thistle Hyde Park has used up its last chance.

Short walk from hotel
Plenty of good eating places nearby on Queensway. Notting Hill is just a couple more blocks away, as well, but do not eat at the hotel. $$$$!
