Location Location Location

If you are able to get a deal this is the place to stay! It is about a two minute walk from both Piccadily Circus and Leicester square, about 5 / 10 mins from most of the West End shows, Covent Garden, Regent St, Trafalger Square etc. We didn't bother with paying extra for breakfast as it was nice to eat out. We will be back!

We stayed at the Thistle for two

We stayed at the Thistle for two nights. Overall we were happy with the hotel. Rooms were adequate and there was a good choice at breakfast which was priced well. My only complaint was when we came back to the hotel at 11pm on the saturday night after a long day out in London we wanted to order a sandwich. The menu was fairly extensive and had many items which stated they were available 24 hrs a day. We chose a Tuna sandwich only to be told that only ham or cheese were available as the kitchen had closed and we would be better off to go outside for food as there was more choice. Other than this incident a very enjoyable stay.

NO RUNNING WATER! Shower, toilet...

No running water! I wish I knew before I used the toilet. Now just imagine how bad it can get. Staff offered to bring up bottled water, but what I need is another hotel!!! Beware! This hotel is notorious for having water problems.

Ignores Do Not Disturb sign

These people ignore the Do Not Disturb sign. Just when I'm trying to overcome some jet lag, the hotel staff keep knocking on my door to inquire if I need anything. Just as I'm getting back to sleep, the phone rings and they again are inquiring if I need anything. Yes, I do need something. SLEEP!!! You won't get any sleep in this hotel.

Location location location!!!

We had an overnight layover at Heathrow airport so we decided to explore London in the little time we had. We took a train to Thistle hotel. It was so easy and fast!! We were smack dab in the middle of it all. The hotel was also charming and clean. I would highly recommend this place.

Thistle Picadilly

Thistle Picadilly in my opinion is way overpriced for what you get. I have stayed at both the Thistle Picadilly and Thistle Trafalgar which are only 2 blocks away from each other. The quality of the room was poor with the carpet being dirty, a chair that was stained and stunk. The furniture was beat up. I could understand their conditions if they were there for the cheap traveler needing basic accommodations and cheap prices. The noise level was bad and when I asked for a quieter room they said they were all about the same. If your are looking for something in this location definitely go to the Thistle Trafalgar or look at other options for the price. I also found a great difference in the staff between the two hotels.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

I would recommend two places for dining not too far: For a good all day breakfast meal and good people watching try Balan's Cafe. For some good Italian, I recommend Amalfi's.

I enjoyed the stay at this hotel

I enjoyed the stay at this hotel although my room was not ready at 2pm even when i put on the form i was checking in at 2pm. The room had not been cleaned. The woman at reception was very unhelpful and did not know when the room would be available so i told her i was coming back in one hour. Even after coming back the woman did not even acknowledge me at reception and i was helped by another very nice and pleasant woman who seemed to know what she was doing. The person in the morning when i checked out was also very nice. I would stay at this hotel again as the location was perfect for a friday night out with friends and other than that 1 negative point the rest of the staff were very good.
