Wont stay there again
I did not have a good experience with this hotel. Room was not made up or cleaned on 3 out of 4 days even when please make up room was put on door. The room was not clean and very old/outdated. Lots of dust in the room and carpets were not clean in places Corridors were rough with many scuff marks all over the walls. The hotel is in need of some serious decorating Gym was small and crowded and also in need of a good clean On the plus side the showers were very powerful and there were good facilities on site.

Very poor check in very slow, also have a number of workmen living there during the week who were up all night causing disturbance, decor very old and tatty, room had no blind in bathroom (had to stick showermat to afford some privacy) and there was nikd around window no remote, no covers on mattress which wsas very uncomfortable. This is definately not a 3 star hotel. Food in resturant very poor walked to the Metropolitain and had some fab food instead.

Phone signal strength
Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms. Staff weren't the friendliest though. But the main negative for many, will be the complete lack of a mobile phone signal anywhere inside the hotel. Maybe it's just Orange/T-Mobile/EE, it wasn't really a problem for me, because I didn't particularly want to get in touch with anyone. But it will be a problem for many.

Awful hotel
The hotel parking wasn't for guests it seemed to be for availiable as an airport car park. The room was very small and not very clean. The 'specail offers' signs outside the hotel advertising cheap drinks etc set the scene for a very noisey and distrubed nights sleep, culminating in shouting drunk guests on the roof....not much fun at 3am. Never again!!

Remarkably good value!
Disappointing arrival - stood at reception desk for 10 minutes while the lone member of staff dealt with a customer, then a phone call, and the concierge came and went twice. An acknowledgement such as "be with you soon, sir" would have made me feel much more welcome. When I was finally asked if I was checking in, I was told I was 2 hours too early! Further disappointment as that was all that was said to me. Anyway, I went on my way and came back at the designated time to be greeted with another silent unacknowledged wait for a further 5 minutes! Check in finally dealt with I was allocated a basic single en-suite room on the ground floor. Quite a maze of corridors to find it but the room, although small, was clean, tidy and perfect for a short stay. Only criticism was that the bathroom had a frosted window but no blind - anyone passing on the adjacent roadway during shower time would have had an interesting view.! I needed to iron a couple of shirts so went to the "ironing room", another long hike away. The irons were damaged, didn't work, and whoever installed them did an appalling job - exposed wires and frayed flex. However, when I did complain I was provided with a plug-in iron and ironing board in my room for the 15 minutes needed. Why don't they just offer this service anyway? After these early hiccups, the rest of the hotel was extremely good - fine bar and restaurant, vending machines for snacks, very attractive grounds for evening strolls, room service (food good value but £3+ service fee), spa services, etc. All in all, I came away very pleased after a good night's sleep at an unbeatable price. I highly recommend this hotel despite the occasional rough edge!

Somewhere to spend the night
The hotel is located in woodland on the outskirts of Didsbury, a well-heeled suburb in South Manchester. The reception is very large and a bit cavern-like, but staff were available every time I entered or left, which I found reassuring. My room was on the ground floor and unfortunately was directly overlooking the dustbin area. Inside, the room was reasonably well-furnished but very dated. However, the bed was comfortable, there was a plentiful supply of clean towels and tea, coffee and toiletries were provided. The television did not have a remote control, but this was of no great concern to me as I only used it as a signal to the domestics that the room was occupied in the morning. It was clean, but there were little details I didn't like, such as the distance from the toilet seat to the toilet roll holder (!) and - strangely - the very old-fashioned plastic swingbin in the bathroom. Perhaps we are all too fussy these days, with being used to the high standards and low prices of your average Premier Inn and the like.

Major disappointment
We were told that only sandwiches were avail between 11pm and 3am, which was fine and we ended up with stale barncakes that were inedible, rotten old salad and stale crisps. The chairs in the room had major sweat stains on...disgusting

Great value and location
Arrived at 9am after an overnight flight from Boston. Staff was nice enough to let us check in very early and clean up. Room was good size and clean. Bar was full and fun on Saturday night. 3am wake up call came right on time. Restaurant food was good. Will definitely stay again.
