Run down and dated
The smelt of damp, there was black mould around the bath! the shower would only go boiling hot or freezing cold with nothing inbetween.

Don't get breakfast!
Booked this hotel as it was the closest to where we needed to be. Corridors and rooms smelled of "shake'n'vac" - trying to mask something perhaps? Floor tiles in lift were sticking up - an obvious trip hazard. Please don't get the breakfast! We ordered breakfast as we had an appointment and it was convenient to eat at the hotel. All the cooked food (bacon, sausages, eggs) were stone cold. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she inspected the bain marie and said I could wait until it warmed up to reheat the food or she could heat my plate of food in a microwave, as I was in a hurry I took this option but wasn't happy. When I went to reception to fill out a comment card, I was told they didn't have any but I could go online. (there was a box on the wall for comment cards). When I stated my concern to the receptionist, she did however say that I should have been offered a fresh batch of food, she spoke to the waitress and fresh bowls of food were then produced. I did notice that a lot of people were eating the cold food, I do hope no-one suffered food poisoning as a result. The bed was comfortable but the sofabed had seen better days, as had the bath which had a lot of horrible marks on it. At least it was quiet (at the front) - didn't even hear the windows of the nail bar across the road being broken by vandals during the night.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Had a lovely meal in the Grill on the Alley. Waiter very helpful and friendly. Bill came to £200 for 4, but that was for the works, bottle of wine, more than a few cocktails etc. And it was a special occasion.

Overnight stop
Immediately attended to on arrival - impressed by particularly helpful and courteous staff. Request for absent towels instantly responded to. Room could not be faulted. Breakfast convenient and a varied choice though quality of some of it could have been better. Overall stay was very good value.

Great location for a small budget
This is the second time we've stayed in this Travelodge and on both occasions we've found the staff helpful, the room of decent standard (the two of us booked family rooms, much more spacious) and the location hard to fault for what you pay. Yes it is near a busy road so expect traffic noise, and it's not a 5* hotel with all the luxuries, but if you're on a budget and looking for a no frills base to explore central Manchester with easy access to Deansgate and Spinningfields then I'd highly recommend it.

We paid £29 for a double room basically it was the same price as a taxi home after the Guns n Roses gig, ok the hotel is a bit tired but for that price you really cannot complain. Excellent location very clean and tidy room just basic Would I stay again yes :)

Family break
The position of the hotel is great very close to the Arndale Centre. The staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel accommodation is basic and needs upgrading although it was clean. Ideal for a one night stay very close to the city centre.

Manchester night away
I was really disappointed with my stay at the Travelodge. It was very 'tired', had an unpleasant smell and overall was not a particularly pleasant experience. It is unlikely that I would stay at any Travelodge again and I would certainly not stay at the Manchester Central.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Although the Travelodge was not a pleasant hotel, the location was excellent as it was within walking distance of the Manchester Arena so is perfect for seeing a show or band, so I would definitely recommend a town centre hotel so that it's easy to get to the Arena.

You know what you are getting!
It is great that this Travelodge has meals available, and is somewhere where a single femail traveller feels comfortable eating alone. A safe, convenient place to stay, which I would be happy to use again. More attantion to furnishings would be good eg: no drawers, no bedside table, shelf/desk on opposite side of the room to the mirror.

Cheap Stay
Stayed on a Saturday night, have stayed here previously, could do with being modernised. Hotel was a bit noisy, woken up at 5am with large groups of people arriving back after night out. rooms very basic, but only paid £29 so you only get what you paid for.
