Good Base For visiting friends/family
The Hilton Gateshead is a great hotel well placed, lots of must have amenities - gym, business center conference etc. We always pay a little extra and take the Executive rooms - the value is that with breakfast - drinks and snacks included it actually works out cheaper than the standard room - if you find the right rates.... We stay here when visiting friends and family in South Shields - it is close enough to get there quickly but far enough away to give some "personal time"! The views over the river are really nice.

i was part of a large group that arrived for a wedding that was taking place at another venue in Gateshead. Altogether, our group took over 100 rooms. the rooms, view, location of the hotel was great, but i was extremely surprised and disappointed that the hotel did not show any appreciation for the enormous profit they made on this large booking, they did not make even a drop of effort to accomodate requests for room check-in a tiny little bit earlier then 3pm, or check out a drop later then 10am. they refused to place the welcome packages our host had prepared for all us guests, in our rooms until after we had arrived..i would choose the Marriot ar MetroCentre for my next event.

Fantastic location overlooking
Fantastic location overlooking the Tyne Bridge ( perfect for an ex pat Geordie brought up on the banks of the Tyne). The staff were brilliant very friendly, welcoming but also profesional. We had a thoroughly enjoyable three days.

Excellent hotel, with great location
Excellent hotel, with great location for access to centre of Newcastle and views over the River Tyne. Breakfast buffet is highly recommended!

Amazing location lovely hotel,
Amazing location lovely hotel, i checked in early and was offered smoking room or the chance to check in later, unfortunately i picked a smoking room, yecuck- clean but smelt. However hotel was superb as in newcastle right on the river with pool and nice atmosphere and loved the fact the staf were locals so had lots to say and advise on FAB

The Hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. There were only two drawbacks, one - we were gven a room for disabled people which meant there was no bath just a shower, secondly the room was very dark, could have done with brighter lighting. It was very nicley furnished and very comfortable.
