Nestled in the beautiful Usk Valley in South Wales, only two hours from London, The Celtic Manor Resort is a luxurious destination on a grand scale. Within its 1,400 acres of parkland is a wealth of facilities, set against a backdrop of panoramic views. This vast estate offers a private and luxurious retreat for its guests - a special place to relax and indulge. The Resort offers a choice of two hotels, each with their own unique style and atmosphere, allowing you to select the ideal surroundings for your perfect escape. Those who prefer a little heritage will enjoy a stay at the four star 19th century Manor House, where the traditional character and period styling has been preserved throughout. There are four-poster beds for the romantics among you and deluxe family rooms are available for guests who require a little more space to unwind. Owner Sir Terence Matthews purchased The Manor House in 1980, after it had been used for more than 30 years as a maternity hospital, where he himself was born. The property was refurbished and opened as a hotel in 1982. The Celtic Manor, as it was then named, was an instant success, winning the Egon Ronay award for the best hotel in Wales for five consecutive years. This beautiful building still retains much of its original character and historic period features such as stained glass windows, wood panelling and open fireplaces. It now provides a total of 70 traditionally styled bedrooms and is home to The Patio restaurant, The Cellar Bar, Residents Lounge, Manor Bar, Hedleys, and The Manor Suite. The Manor House is set in glorious landscaped gardens, with its own parking and direct access to the Resort Hotel. As you would expect of the next Ryder Cup venue (the prestigious event will be staged here in 2010), the golfing facilities here are exceptional, with three stunning championship courses including the new Twenty Ten, providing a challenge to even the most experienced of golfers. There is also a world-class Golf Academy recognised as one of Europe's leading centres of excellence, which offers a comprehensive programme of individual and group tuition. Two luxurious spas invoke a sense of wellbeing, offering a sanctuary for relaxation and the finest treatments from luxury beauty houses Elemis, Clarins and Payot. The Forum is the Resort's largest spa and is situated in the Resort Hotel, while the smaller but perfectly formed Clarins Health Spa can be found at The Lodge, one of two golf clubhouses at the Resort. Exuding luxury and exclusivity, here you can sample paradise on earth, the ultimate in pampering with time and Ensuring total parental relaxation, The Forum also offers its own children's crèche, The Hideaway Club, a complete entertainment centre for children from birth to 11 years of age, operating under the supervision of fully qualified staff. A new Games Room also provides entertainment for older children (and their parents!) with a range of activities including air hockey, table football and snooker. In addition, numerous outdoor pursuits including clay pigeon shooting, tennis, mountain biking and woodland walking trails, make The Celtic Manor Resort a perfect destination to relax with family or friends.
