Plymouth has a good overall shopping experience and there are numerous bars and restaurants in the Barbican area. Recommend the Pasta Bar as food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Major Points of Interest

Plymouth is a waterfront city and the lighthouse known as Smeaton's Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks in the area. Originally built in 1759, the lighthouse is nearly 22 metres high. Visitors are able to climb to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy the views of Plymouth Sound Bay and the city.

Plymouth is a popular choice for visitors wishing to try scuba diving or sailing. Yacht races take place regularly in Plymouth Sound. There are several swimming pools in Plymouth with diving being a popular past time thanks to Tom Daley who was born, and trains, in Plymouth. Tourists to the city can watch the local football team, Plymouth Argyle, play at the Home Park Stadium.
