What a shame

Hotel views fantastic however this was far outweighed by the hotel itself. Shabby old furniture I would have consigned to the tip and badly in need of redecorating. Toilet did not work in room. When I pointed out this after the visit the Manager [...] was very sarcastic and said I should have asked for another room! What a way to run a business - the room should have been acceptable in the first place. He would not make a refund. So BEWARE!!!

Lovely location but tired and

Lovely location but tired and very aggressive signs warning of multiple rules and regulations. Stained sofa and scratched furniture. Leopard-print curtains in the main room. Bed not very comfy. Lovely views but very noisy when the wind blows off the sea. Expensive for very basic accommodation.

Very convenient location with

Very convenient location with lovely views from restaurant overlooking the estuary. Rooms were compact. Initial worries about poor quality/fitting double glazing proved unfounded as the nearby funfair closed down and moved out overnight without us hearing anything. No road traffic noise either. Good on site (free) parking. Everything has its price but I'd go back there again if town centre was what was needed.

The hotel is tired; restuarant

The hotel is tired; restuarant meals expensive. Has good location on the hoe and a free car park. I guess you get what you pay for as it was very reasonable.

we only paid 45 pounds for a nights

we only paid 45 pounds for a nights stay which was very good value for room only. The hotel is a bit tired, the staff were good but the view over the sound is its main redeeming feature. We have stayed at this hotel over many years but the price determines whether we stay there. I think this hotel is suffering from concrete cancer as the carpet was pulled up by the window and the crumbling concrete was on show. Lovely position with a free car park - a great plus in Plymouth. We would certainly stay there again at the right price - if it is still standing of course.

This is an excellent hotel in

This is an excellent hotel in the budget catergory, excellent views over the Plymouth Hoe from the hotel and from the street. about a ten minute walk from the train station and shops, but the views and coastal walks make up for that. the all you can eat self service breakfast was of a very good quality, the rooms are clean and basic. highly recommended.

Basic hotel which to be honest

Basic hotel which to be honest looks awful from the outside, but inside it is much better. Stunning views from the restaurant and most bedrooms. Very friendly and helpful staff at breakfast - reception staff not so friendly. Rooms clean and spacious. Very nice shower. Unlimited fairly good quality buffet breakfast.
