wonderful view over the quay

Position of this hotel is absolutely perfect for Poole town and the quay. We had a sea view room overlooking the quay at the front of the hotel , more expensive but worth every penny. Took a boat trip to Brownsea island etc which you could board just a 2 minute stroll from the hotel - and a lovely evening walk through the park to the right of the hotel . We will definitely return .The in-room tea and coffee facilities are also a real nice touch.

Do also try the 'Off Quay' restaurant in the High St. Innovative menu, well cooked food and lovely hosts.

Depressing hotel

I was staying in a single room which didn't look anything like the hotel website photos. The room was really depressing. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the carpet was filthy, the seat cover had stains on it and there was a cigarette cartoon wrapper in the warderobe ( in non smoking room). But the worst thing was that there was a large yellow stain on my bedsheets! There was a plastic folder on the table with hotel service details. I never read it as it was so dirty that I didn't want to touch it. Also on the table there was a laminated small card with hotel details on it. It was ripped but still left to room by cleaners. The card had an old phonenumber for the hotel which is not anymore in use. The hotel website advertises its bar. The bar was closed during my 3 day visit. Even the public areas need urgent renovation. The corridor carpets have holes in them.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Banana Wharf is just a very short walk away from the hotel. Friendly service, good pizza and lovely views. Also further along the quay Da Vinci is a lovely italian restaurant. During the lunch time food is 50% off.

Room had broken window which meant it couldn't be shut. We were not informed of check out time and so they tried to charge us a late checkout charge as we were an hour late. Learning is to ask what time check out is next time!

Bar service/stock not very good.

Bar service/stock not very good. Returned to hotel after evening out and wanted a drink before retiring around 11.00 p.m. Guest bar was closed and advised to go upstairs where wedding disco was taking place - manager said guests wouldn't mind, although we were soon spotted as not being friends of bride/groom! No baileys behind bar. Requested malibu/pineapple following lunchtime, told no pineapple only orange. Also not much choice of wine by glass!

Pleasant Stay

You pay for the location of the hotel which overlooks the harbour, with only a short walk into the town centre. Lovely walks along the quay with plenty of pubs & restaurants. Town centre has many large shops. Our room was good size and clean but looked in need of new wallpaper & carpet. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again if price is right.

The basic rooms are perfectly

The basic rooms are perfectly adequate, with indifferent service at the front desk and bar. Hotel is definitely a 'no frills' place but in an excellent location at the quayside, just don't expect to be blown away by the room, facilities or service. We would stay there again because of the great location.

The location on the quayside was

The location on the quayside was excellent with lots of bars and restaurants closeby. The breakfast charge at £15 would have been exorbitant were it not for the discount voucher offered only after enquiring. Car parking was easy with a large car park at rear for an additional £5. To get to our room on arrival we had to negotiate a way through a wedding reception disco.
