Perfect location for a good night out: dinner at Lamb's restaurant on Sheep Street and a play at the RSC theatre. One tip: There are *two* Chapel Streets in Stratford and most sat navs only list the wrong one which is in the suburbs. Set your sat nav to the intersection of Sheep Street and High Street instead. The entrance to the parking lot (10 pounds/day for hotel guests) is on Sheep Street.

Great location

  • 2 Sep 2010
So the hotel is literally just a few minutes away from the centre and you can walk in and out as you wish and pop back for a few minutes to rest or pop into town after a meal. The standard rooms we had were your typical anonymous chain hotel type: clean, tidy and functional but that makes them dull. We had a walk in shower that was great but if you turned up the flow the bathroom got wet and the base filled up very quickly. Hotel has a good car park round the back but is not signposted so you need to know it is there. We arrived early (12:00 and check in was 14:00) and were not given rooms, but they did store some stuff we wanted to keep cool in a fridge. We checked out as late as were allowed (11:00) and there was a long queue and only one person on reception.

Our stay here was wonderful. I had booked it as a suprise thank you for my Mother. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive and we found our Orr-arranged bottle of Prosecco chilling on our arrival. The rooms were spotless, clean and attractively decorated. We were visiting the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, so the location was perfected we were able to walk round admiring the canalboats on the way. All in all a brilliant weekend away. Thank you!

Description
The Charlecote Pheasant Hotel is situated in the delightful Warwickshire village of Charlecote, just two miles from Junction 15 of the M40 and four miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. Opposite the Hotel is Charlecote Manor and Deer Park, the National Trust property where, as popular folklore has it, Shakespeare was caught poaching. Benefiting from a £2.8 million pound refurbishment in 2008, the original building was a farmhouse and much of that original charm remains, as period buildings have been sympathetically converted into bedrooms. With its rural setting and proximity to motorway networks and local attractions, the Hotel is an ideal central base for business or leisure. The Hotels 72 bedrooms are furnished in a warm style and offer a comfortable and well-equipped retreat at the end of the day. All rooms have the standard of facilities expected including en suite bathrooms, TV, hair dyer and hospitality tray. The Hotel gardens have a children's play area, together with a tennis court and outdoor swimming pool (in summer season only).

Amazing Historic Palace

  • Young couple, touring like champs Verified Customer
  • 19 Aug 2010
This was hand down the overall greatest hotel that I have ever stayed at. It is, quite literally, a palace, and the staff treats you like royalty. The building itself is worth a visit as parts of it are from the 14th century, and the grounds have history going back at least 1,000 years.Today, it is restored to complete palatial splendor. The staff greets you by name and accommodates your every whim. The interior, exterior, and grounds are gorgeous! This was truly an unbelievable experience, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. In the US, you could easily spend at least $400/night for a hotel of this quality (and you can't find a hotel with even close to this much history in US). A STEAL at the $180/night rate that I got [...]!!!The absolute only negative (and this is barely a negative) is that the basic rooms are not exquisite like the rest of the property. They are well appointed, spotlessly clean, and top quality, to be sure. But they are not at the oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-this-place-exists quality like the rest of the hotel.Lastly, the location is pretty good - located on an estate just outside of Stratford-on-Avon, with easy drive to Warwick. Only negative about the location is that downtown Stratford is obviously not within walking distance.

It is off season. The room had a single bed. You couldn't swing a cat in the room without hitting the walls--for which neither the walls (which could use painting) nor the cat would have been happy. You bumped into the flat screen TV on the wall going to and from the very small bathroom. The price should have be 25-33% less. The room reminded me of Harry Potter's room beneath the stairs in the original movie.

Description
Picture a fascinating Tudor manor almost unchanged by time. Now lovingly restored as a beautiful hotel. The hotel holds a Grade 1 listing for architectural and historical interest and lies close to Stratford Upon Avon and Broadway, and the whole of the lovely Cotswold and Shakespeare country are on the doorstep. Salford Hall was originally built as a guest residence for the monks of nearby Evesham Abbey, probably in the time when Richard Hawkesbury was Abbott. Like many a mediaeval Friar Tuck he was noted for good living. It seems appropriate that the Hall should now become a luxury hotel since its founder had such a reputation for extravagant living. This hotel is completely non-smoking. Salford Hall offers a unique conference venue. This wonderfully comfortable Tudor manor offers a very special atmosphere for the conference delegate. Relaxed, yet stimulating Salford Hall is excellently equipped, with meeting rooms of various sizes to accommodate from 2 to 30 delegates. The hall is available for exclusive use and its compact size is ideal for corporate entertaining. Amenities providing by the property are Conference Facilities, Free Parking, Pets Allowed: Allowed with Prior arrangements, Restaurant, Room Service, Room Service, Smoke-Free Property.
