Super 8 Tuscaloosa

I was in town for a wedding and thinking I could get a hotel on my own would be easy since there was no football that weekend wasn't true. Luckily ORBITZ had a room at this hotel which was an average hotel but wasn't sure how it would be. Hotel was nice...not a 5 star but your average hotel so I would stay there again.

My room was at the far end of the hotel but faced front and was next to the exit. I parked in front of my window. I was very pleased to see they'd remodeled with new furniture and included the bathroom. The furniture still smelled new. What might pose a problem for an out-of-towner is the location is next to the highway entrance. You have to go to the turning lane (to make a u-turn) for the east-bound entrance to go to Walmart and the mall the hotel is next to. I inspect all the drawers, cabinets and under the beds when I get to a room and this one had a soda cap and hotel-issued hanger under the bed when I arrived Sunday at 4:30pm. I was there when I left Wednesday morning at 10:00am. If you book through a website other than Super 8/Wyndam you won't receive travel credit and they will not issue a zero-balance bill at the end of your stay. I plan to contact Wyndam to ask about the billing policy since I will need it for taxes. Overall, I would stay again, if I booked through Super 8/Wyndam to get the travel points.

We were there for a wedding (as the preacher) so needed some place to go before and after. The room satisfied us--clean, air conditioner works REALLY well (which was good since it was 100 outside). It's right beside a big highway, but the AC fan drowned out any noise there might have been. They even let us check in a little before the posted check-in time.

The Super 8 was quiet and fairly convenient, but is not well maintained. The bathroom was very small with floor peeling at the edges with cheap thin towels. Bed was at the best average to get a descent night sleep. Air oonditioner was a wall unit that worked fine. Value was not worth the cost, but was the going rate for a football weekend in Tuscaloosa. I only recommend this since it is better than staying in another town where you might not be close to the university.
