staff stink

staff super unfriendly and unhelpful. Jacket was stolen from infront of our room as we loaded our stuff in our room. There are ten motels with similar rates on this block, pick a different one!

Quality on par with price

For the cost ($67) it was about what would be expected. Good location for access to restaurants and the highway for a jumping off point for the Grand Canyon. Rooms were average and clean. Continental breakfast was very limited selection (cereal, muffins, toast, oatmeal). Would have given an additional star if there was a better breakfast spread as this would have elevated the value for your money. Note there is a train track within a few hundred yards or so from the back of the hotel. You could hear it during the night. Wasn't loud enough to be an issue for myself, however very light sleepers should be aware of this.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

There was a chinese food buffet at the end of the street this hotel is on, (there is a 3 way intersection). It had a pretty good selection and also had the mongolian style grill where you pick your meats and veggies and they grill it for you. 2 adults and 2 children including drinks on a Friday night was less than $40.

Nice room, bad staff

We were on a road trip and came to the hotel very late, around 4 am since we had been driving all night. We were very tired and rang a doorbell and there came a staff member and she looked like she didn´t want to let us in at all (and it was cold outside!) Then she told us that if we had come 5 minutes later we would have missed her since she was going to take a shower (she was wearing her bathrobe). I´m sorry but who takes a shower when you´re working? I don´t care what time it is. Plus she was annoyed that we had bothered her and we did not feel welcomed at all! The room was big and nice, it had a fridge and a microwave, but it was freezing cold the whole night and we could not find a "do not disturb" note to hang on the door, so we were woken up twice when we really needed that sleep (we were driving for 12 hours the following day).

some problems, even at this price point

You stay at a TraveLodge for the basics and a low price. However, I felt that this hotel did not quite make it up to even that standard. To wit: Despite the large sign saying "Free Wi-Fi", there was no wi-fi, except in the lobby. Staff said modems had been "ordered" - they could say that for months, still doesn't mean that there is wi-fi today. The toilet wasn't bolted to the floor. My husband joked that we should have moved into the middle of the room. The bathtub stopper didn't work. Maybe I am the only motel traveler in the US who uses a tub, but my feeling is that the bathtub should function properly. People staying there may have spent the day skiing or hiking in the Grand Canyon and would like a hot soak at the end of the day. It wasn't possible in that tub. The carpet, relatively new, did not make it to non-carpeted sink area. The crevice was wider than a quarter inch, and all kinds of disgusting schmuckus (like a bent coffee stirrer) had fallen in that crack. Further, just as a note: while the orange juice is labelled "orange", it is not really "orange juice". It tasted like Tang to me, and the nice staff person let me read the ingredients list. It's mostly high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavor. This may be endemic to TraveLodge, I don't know. I'd get coffee from the free breakfast, and I think that's about it. Look, you aren't expecting the Taj Mahal at this price point, but I felt like this TraveLodge could have done better. There are a ton of bargain motels in Flagstaff because the old Route 66 runs through it. If you don't mind having a place in disrepair or not perfectly clean, you probably could find that place for cheaper. Or you could spring for another ten bucks a night and stay at the Day's Inn next door. If I only had the Day's Inn password, I could have had the promised free wifi - even from the other end of the building, their signal was strong.

Galaxy Diner has breakfast specials on the weekdays for $3.99. Get your coffee at the TraveLodge, then walk across the street to the Galaxy and get eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns for four bucks more.

Quick Trip to Flagstaff

The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The outside noise was a slight problem. You could hear the loud cars, trucks, people slamming their doors, talking.

Fine for the Price

This place was fine for under $40! Otherwise, not that great. Needed a complete cleaning (including under beds, etc.). The power outlets were all overused, leaving none available for a phone charger. Also, the dresser/TV stand was a bit rickety. Driving around Flagstaff, this place looked about average amongst most motels/hotels in the area.

View Of The Mountain

The room was very clean and beds were comforable. The hair dryer fell off the wall, but generally the room was not in any disrepair. We had a view of the mountain from our window, but that was not remarkable. Front desk person was not friendly, but did respond if asked a question. We were missing a bath towel and did obtain a replacement. The ice machine was located across the parking lot in another motel which was odd.

College visit stay

Clean room, small bathroom. Comfortable beds. Minimal breakfast, apple or orange would have been nice. No street noise, but trains close by. Very close to NAU and short drive to downtown.
