VFW Event
One night stay in Yuma. I traveled to Yuma for the VFW Department of Arizona State Commander's Homecoming Dinner. While I have passed through Yuma many times, this is the first time I spent the night. Hilton Garden Inn Yuma is an easy access off I-8. It is modern and clean. Great breakfast at the hotel while I stayed. The hotel is not that close to other eating places.

Hotel River Camping
This hotel is just as you enter Yuma, we were day camping at the river and this was an easy close place to stay. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms immaculate and the view from our room was of the river. We will stay here again.

Definitely not worth it!!!
It is unbelievable that this hotel was diamond rated by AAA! The air conditioning is as loud as a jet engine. None of the rooms have windows that open and there is something seriously wrong with the facility as the rooms and hallways all wreak of sulfur as if the sewer under it exploded. The location is completely on the outskirts of town and there is no public transit so you have to pay through the nose for a cab to go anywhere. The rooms are equipped with a coffee maker and you are not only not provided bottled water to make coffee but you are expected to use their tap water which smells like sulfur and tastes like rust. The rooms are equipped with so called adjustable air beds. However, the bed I had did not deflate so it was very hard to sleep on. Their satellite tv system (Dishnetwork) lost its signal on many of the channels for long periods of time and did so frequently. When I contacted the front desk, I was greeted with "hey, what's up?" and when I explained that their channels were out, their response was "yeah I heard, well I guess we're gonna have to call someone to fix it". When asked when we might have tv service again the response was "I don't know". While trying to male the best of the fact that there is nothing entertaining close by I decided to watch what few channels were still visible. However, the room didn't have a tv guide or in room guide of what was on any of the channels. When I asked for a tv guide, the front desk clerk replied "there should have been one in the room". I explained again that I did not have one in the room and he simply stated "well we don't really have any here". He went on to say, "I guess you can go into the business center and get online to see what's on (so I was expected to go down two levels to the front desk area to find out what I MIGHT be able to see?)". I asked to speak to the manager and the clerk replied, "Uh, we don't like really have a manager right now, uh..." It was like living in a Beavis & B-head cartoon! This facility needs some major maintenance to rid itself of the sewer smell and some heavy duty customer service training for their "customer service staff"! While most of the lower rated hotels in town like Holiday Inn Express and Shilo Inn offer shuttles to and from the airport, I couldn't even get the right number from the hotel desk clerk to their local cab company...this was utterly ridiculous! You are much better off staying somewhere closer to town where at least they try to make you feel like a guest or at the very least appreciate your business. I have written to their corporate offices and thus far, no response from them either. Hilton used to be such a good chain but this facility doesn't even deserve the corporate name. Very disappointing!

Long walk from hotel
The only good thing about this hotel is that it is five blocks from a great Mexican restaurant called Mi Rancho on 4th Ave. Best authentic Mexican food I have had in a long time!
