a few blocks from a very hip neighborhood
At first glance this Echo Park neighborhood appears kind of seedy - but it is just a few short blocks down Sunset from Silver Lake - which is a very artsy and hip area of town with great, inexpensive bistro style restaurants. Echo Park is an artist's neighborhood - though you wouldn't necessarily see it while on the main drag. It won't be long till this section of town gentrifies and no one will be able to afford to live there anymore. We stayed here because it was in close proximity to Union Station. Even though it was about six blocks away, they were very long blocks and it is not a hike most people would be willing to make. We took a cab there and it was $8.00 Well worth it given the discounted price of the hotel. The rooms are spacious but nothing special. The breakfast nook was tiny, but did have a waffle making machine which was tasty. Sunset Blvd. is very noisy (traffic wise) but we just kept our blower on all night and that took care of it. I"d stay here again.

Fair
Fair hotel for the price. Not more nor less than what I was expecting. And very well located. Easy access to all attractions, specially if you are driving.

Stopover for game
Although the girl and guy on duty were really nice, the only good thing about this hotel is if you are going to the dodgers game

Did the job!
this is the second time the wife and I have stayed here. Staff is very friendly and has recommended some good eats as well as order a taxi for us...good attitude, accomodating our requests. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfy. Its a bit loud with the traffic on Sunset, but not enough to keep you from sleeping. Not a Marriott...but it did the job! We'll stay again!

Nostalgic for Echo Park
Accessible, Clean Spot
I chose to stay here because I used to live in the neighborhood and wanted to be close to my old friends and neighbors. The Super 8 is very convenient if you're getting around on public transportation (or driving) and you're planning to spend time downtown, in Elysian Park, Dodger Stadium, Echo Park, or Silver Lake. The room was clean and functional and quiet despite being on a busy street. The wifi was free and decent strength. One downside was that the beverage machine was empty--I was hoping for some non-LA-tap water! I recommend this place for travelers, but at $90 for a single person it's really not an economy hotel as you would think from the name. Three years ago my mom stayed for $60 at the same time of year, which seemed like a pretty good deal. Not sure why prices have gone up so much.

Not in Downtown
Very dirty carpet - very shady place; the breakfast was served in a room with 2 tables and 4 chairs; very very limited options (eat in the Kellogs cups) only one type of milk, no bread (only bagels) It is a few miles away from downtown & not in downtown as the name suggests
