We were surprised, in a good way!
Apples, bananas, oranges and coffee avialable 24/7. A nice selection for breakfast. Pool and jacuzzi clean and operational. Right on the water looking out at a harbor of boats. The staff was available, helpfull and personable. Good size room. Way better than we expected.

Go to the Chop Bar on 4th Street in Oakland. Fantastic food at a reasonable price.

Excellent value and access to bay area
Excellent value in Oakland waterfront, the water view is the way to go as the other side faces the freeway. The property was much nicer for the price than what we could find in San Francisco. Bonus was the two bedroom two bath suite, excellent set up for two couples. I would have no heistation to return to this property.

Short drive from hotel
Easy access to Hwy 880 from hotel to enjoy San Francisco activities such as Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiraldeli Square, Pier 30, Alcatraz, etc. Our intent was to take Bart into the city but we ended up driving each day so paid toll bridge and parking to get to San Francisco.

Nice place to stay
Nice hotel with friendly staff. Well maintained. I've stayed there once before about a year ago and came back. I'm usually quite picky about cleanliness and condition of the rooms i stay in and i am very happy with this property.

The hotel was very clean ...
The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was fabulous. They had one computer with very slow internet for public use and a printer that you could use for free, which was handy for checking emails and printing directions. The hotel has the water on one side, which was nice, and the other side faced the freeway- which was not so nice. I probably wouldn't go walking around after dark. The nicer areas of Oakland are a shortish drive. Down the street was a fabulous BBQ restaurant. The room was a lot larger than I thought- with a whole kitchen and a couch. The bed had a soft topper on it, but the mattress was pretty hard. All in all a great stay for the rate and I would definitely stay here again.

My review of Homewood Suites by Hilton Oakland--Waterfront
The Homewood Suites by Hilton in Oakland is a fairly new facility. The rooms are comfortable; however, for the price paid for a room facing the harbor, it was noisy in terms of other guests on the third floor. Doors were continually slamming at all hours of the night and there was no provision on the doors to make the shutting of them quieter. Additionally, someone left their dog unattended for several hours the first night I was at the hotel and the dog cried the entire time it was left unattended. Otherwise, the accommodations were better than average.
