Business Trip
This was a great hotel, right across the street from BART to take you straight into the city. A few blocks away from Jack London Square. Beautiful!

Wouldn't stay again unless I had to
For the "special discounted rate" of $180/night, I was expecting something much nicer, but absolutely no frills came with this hotel. Tiny room, and no shuttle service to/from the airport. I didn't want a microwave for my room, but was told that if I did, it would be $30 extra. Internet service was $10/day extra (I haven't been in a hotel that charged for internet service since 2005). Even the cheapest motels offer complimentary breakfasts, but not here; you could order juice and toast for $14, not including tax and a mandatory 20% gratuity, and still had to go downstairs to pick it up yourself. Bottled water in the room had price tags of $3.75 on them. We were afraid to use the coffee pot for fear there would be some hidden charge associated with it. The best I can say is that the bed was extremely comfortable and our housekeeping person was very nice. It wasn't a bad hotel, but just a terrible value for the money.

Short walk from hotel
If you're staying here, Pacific Coast Brewing Company is practically across the street. They have great beer, soup, and free wi-fi (unlike the hotel).

Good location in Oakland!
I booked this hotel at the last minute for a holiday weekend stay. The hotel was in a great location (downtown Oakland and across the street from a BART station). I also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean and modern. I found it to be good value for the price I paid (~130/night).

Clean, modern
I was apprehensive about this hotel because I have been to this area of Oakland but hadn't seen very nice hotels. The outside is nothing to write home about. Stone everything, although the exterior seemed to be undergoing construction as well. The interior of the hotel was very nice. Colorful, inviting, and very clean. The hotel staff was great, and extremely accommodating. Although check-in is at 3 pm, they were happy to provide a room to us when we arrived at the painfully early time of 7:45 am. The rooms were clean and relaxing. Our room (with two double beds) even had a mini-refrigerator, which our friends (staying in the same hotel, but with one king bed) did not have in theirs. The location is also very convenient, as it is close to the highway (but you cannot hear the highway from the room), and literally across the street from BART. I would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend this hotel.

Comfortable, clean quiet hotel, might have a good view from the upper floors. We stayed here because it was less expensive than San Fran and had a BART station just across the street. No complaints.

Overnight Stay
My stay was only an overnight stay but I was suprised that when I arrived at the hotel at about 10:30 in the morning I was able to get into a room right away. My room was nice and comfy and clean. The breakfast meal I had was ok but it seems the temperature was a little too cool for me in the restaurant. I asked the waiter to heat up my coffe cup before He brought the coffee and he did. Overall what little contact I had with the hotel and personel was favorable.

Just say yes...
My fight was delayed and called hotel to confirm reservation and late arrival. Very friendly and knowlegable staff who gave me perfect guidance on navigating BART. When I arrived, check-in was a breeze...also upgraded me to a corner room. The room accomadations brought a smile to my face after a long day of travel. Beautiful view of city-center and San-Fran from the 12th floor with 2 huge picture windows.I'll definitely stay again.

Our workshop was being held right across the street. So at lunch we ran back to the room to get something that we needed for the workshop. They were cleaning it so we were just going to walk in and get our stuff however we were politely asked for our key so that they could verify that this was our room. We smiled at each other and then commented after that we liked that. Good security meant that our laptops and other valuable were safe in our room.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
In a strange city it's easier to walk than drive. For us it was less stressful that we knew everything was around the hotel. When we did take the car the valet asked us if he could help us with directions like returning to the airport. He gave us simple directions and we were much more confident.

Good location
This hotel and the staff was very nice as usual. I stayed there even when it was the Hyatt which was better because back then free parking was offered. The disappointing part about my trip was that the lounge was closed. I paid extra for my room to have access to the lounge and again it was closed. As a consumer this was not a good feeling and I should be compensated for it. [...] The Marriott staff was nice and apoligetic about it and gave me a coupon for breakfast [...].

The room was excellent. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It cost 20$ extra dollars for parking! Vallet was 2x that much! There was no pool because it was closed down by the health inspectors! yikes! oh Beware there is a 50$ charge they put on your credit card when you get to the room.
