Good place to eat, sleep and get on the go

  • M and J Vacation Time
  • 28 Mar 2012
My boyfriend and I were in need of a good vacation. San Francisco was our destination. We wanted to look for a good and in our budget type of place. Ramada Limited San Francisco was perfect. We wanted a place that included parking because we planned to park and leave the truck there while we stayed. (it is first come first serve though) We used public transportation which was great because the main buses that take you everywhere were right around the corner. The staff was very helpful when we needed directions or any additional questions about the room. Plus they let us check in early. Breakfast was sufficient and for the price of the room we had nothing to complain about. EXCEPT for one night when we heard the complete argument between a mother and daughter. - but then again it was Saint Patrick Day weekend. Drunk people everywhere! But anything you need is close by. There is plenty of bars around and the neighborhood is nice. There is a Safeway down the street to buy booze or food. Overall I would stay there again and I would recommend it for a short weekend trip to anyone. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!

Quiet, relaxing, romantic

  • gg
  • 15 Aug 2010
We were very pleased with Jackson Court- we had our windows open the whole time we were there, and it was amazingly quiet. We were pretty close to all the places we wanted to go, and Fillmore Street- 2 blocks away- offers continuous bus service as well as shops, restaurants, small food stores, coffee shops. Comfortable bed, clean room, good service. The Inn kitchen was a big plus for us- guests have access to a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster. After busy days, we sometimes brought back food to eat, and being able to heat things up, have plates and silverware was great! Continental breakfast in the kitchen each morning- very nice. Highly recommended.

We arrived from NYC during spring break and was not disappointed. The Queen Anne takes you back to its origin to 1890 with its Victorian architecture and lovely antiques. The staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were cozy and it is walking distance from Union Square and public transportation. I recommend purchasing the Citypass online before your trip, especially if your new to the city. You'll save almost 50% off 5 of San Francisco's most famous attractions. In addition we also took unlimited rides on the muni and cable cars with our Citypass which made our trip easy and enjoyable. I would definitely return to The Queen Anne B & B on my next trip! :)

We planned a brief overnight stay in the city and found ourselves immersed in Fleet Week. Our room was a fortunate accident, we were lucky enough to land a room in the front of the hotel where we could see the air show directly from our room. The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. I would stay here again. If you are looking for a decent affordable place to rest your head, this place worked for us! Not a bad location we walked to fisherman's wharf, Ghiradelli Square and took a short cab ride to Mission.

Great Value

  • Steve C.
  • 21 May 2012
The location was perfect for visiting my brother who lives in San Francisco. If anything, the hotel should play up the anime angle even more. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, street parking parking was easy to find and the value for money was great. This is a no-frills hotel. My biggest complaint is that the free WiFi was horrendously slow. I paid for the upgraded service for a day and it wasn't much better.

The location was good, close to transportation and within walking distance to most of the local attractions. Room was clean and basic. Suggestions for improvement would include the continental breakfast: mainly junk food but not much nutritious. Instant coffee was a huge disappointment in the morning.

Decent, good location.

  • Rob R
  • 31 May 2011
We were traveling to San Francisco to attend a couple of wedding receptions, one north of SF and one south, so we needed a reasonably priced hotel with parking. The hotel was easy to find on Lombard, and fairly convenient to getting to the 101 to go South, and also to get to the Golden Gate. Parking lot was free, but really tight (we had trouble squeezing the rented Dodge Charger into spots). Bed was OK, a little hard. Breakfast is instant coffee, orange juice, pastries, fruit (bananas). On the plus side, the room was largish, the bathroom was big, everything was really clean, and the room was quiet. Good selection of channels on the TV if you want to unwind a bit. On our next to last day, we took a 20 minute walk to the wharf area, which was great.

Great staff

  • bettie bets
  • 7 May 2012
Everyone at the Laurel was great. The front desk staff was fantastic. The Swank lounge was really fun - had great drinks. The hotel itself is an older building and they made a lot of cosmetic changes to try and make it "swanky" but it was slightly odorous (like moldly/stale) in the room. It was a perfect location for my weekend seminar in Laurel Heights. I'm rating this fairly high based on the staff and how hard they worked :-)

Always a Pleasant Stay

  • Korakia
  • 13 Feb 2012
I just got back from a 9-day trip in San Francisco and this was my 4th or 5th time staying at the Laurel Inn. The pros: Staff is friendly and helpful; breakfast items and beverages are served in the lobby every morning and homemade cookies and coffee/tea in the afternoon; rooms are spacious and comfortable and bedding is of good quality; location is close enough to the different neighborhoods that one could walk, take a bus, or drive. Also it's an easy and fairly quick drive from the hotel to the Golden Gate Bridge for access to Marin County (about 10 mins or less without traffic). It's not close to downtown but I stay away from that area so that's never bothered me. Finally, there's ample garage parking included with your stay. The cons: Bathrooms are clean but in need of updating/remodeling (very odd, since the rest of the hotel appears rather modern and sleek), and traffic and noise from the street side of the hotel is somewhat loud. Other than that, it's always a pleasant stay here and I have no complaints. I'd recommend it for the budget- conscious traveller who requires comfort and (aside from the bathrooms), a touch of modern class.

My choices for my budget were: cruddy hotel in a nice area or a nice hotel in a cruddy area. This is a cruddy hotel in a nice area. I was not disappointed at what I got since my expectations weren't very high. The room was clean, it smelled fine and there were no bed bugs. All good things. This is about 2 miles from the Golden Gate and the same from the wharf. Theres plenty of food nearby. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, was willing to direct my wife and I to the nearest attractions and even let us keep our bags on site after checkout since our flight wasn't until later in the day. All I need is a clean room and a bed for a low price and that's what I got. I would stay again.

Great staff, cheerful decor, clean room, convenient location. I didn't spend much time in the room except to sleep. The only drawback was noise. The occupant of the room above woke me up repeatedly--he wasn't exceptionally noisy but the sound really traveled. If you are a sound sleeper then the hotel has no drawbacks.

  • Lesly
  • 15 Feb 2012
Yes, the hotel is very bright and colorful, but if you're just looking for a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay; this is the place to go. There were several perks that made this hotel definitely worthwhile. We were very satisfied with the location and price of the hotel. Just a block up you can walk to Union Street where there were plenty of shops and restaurants. Public transportation was conveniently in walking distance. We also felt safe while walking around the neighborhood (this was an all girls' trip). Other convenient perks included free wifi, continental breakfast (which was pretty descent and filling), and parking!! We used public transportation half of the time, and when we needed to rent a car...we easily found parking on the hotel lot. The room was a little small (or maybe "cozy" is the better word), but it did its job. We had a walk in closet to tuck away our suitcases. There was also a small table and two wicker chairs to sit. It was "cute" and comfortable. You still had all of the basics for a pleasant stay. Because of its location, price, pleasant staff, and added free perks, you really can't beat it. I would definitely stay there again.

What a find!

  • traveling duo
  • 29 Nov 2010
The hotel was more than adequate, although the building was of the older variety. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful with every aspect of our stay. The only problem we had was with the hotel's wifi. Other than that, everything was a charm.

I just used it to sleep and to be picked up for tours. There is not much else anyone can do. I noticed people with their laptops who had to use the hallway or the bottom of the stairwell. I could comment on those who bring their laptops with them on vacation, but why bother. It just seemed disorganized. There are no air conditioners. I don't recommend ordering from the in-room menu. For breakfast, you do get milk, orange juice, banana-walnut bran muffins, and hard-boiled eggs. This is a good stay for those who want to be near Fisherman's Wharf without all the noise and surrounding creeps.

Great location. Very close to the wharf. The motel is average. The price was very good for being so close to the wharf. Very few amenties. Packaged pastries and coffee. The carpets had some stains and my bathroom sink would backup otherwise it was ok.

We loved the location because we wanted to spend time at the Presidio. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked to print boarding passes at 9:30 at night!! Even though parking was minimal we were able to park close by without paying.

Great Trip

  • Rosey
  • 29 Jun 2011
My trip to San Francisco was great! Loved staying at La Luna. The room was big and had a good size bathroom. The location was a little further away from where I was spending most of my time, but it was really easy to get a taxi. I really should have looked into the other modes of public transportation. Overall great experience. Only a little problem checking in. My reservation wasnt showing up[...]

Wires were exposed. parking was minimal but I was able to park in lot for my stay. Location is fantastic . Sheets and towels were very clean. Great place if you are just looking for a place to come back to at night. Needs to lower price for condition of motel.

Staff: NOT ok. - Breakfast starts @ 8am. The guy woke up slowly and opened the door to the lobby @ 8:15, then started putting food... ready @ 8:30! - Gave me a smoking room ( I asked for non-smoking). When I told him he said that it WAS non smoking.. after I stood there staring at him (and his wife) he gave me the non-smoking room!

Presidio Inn

I couldn't really expect much from this hotel given the price we paid. The room was pretty nice though. But the walls were pretty thin. When I went downstairs to ask for more towels and the manager opened the storage room door, I saw a mouse scurrying about. That made me uneasy. But for 2 nights in the city, it wasn't that bad. Parking was free, which was a bonus, but the parking is limited. Location was great and was pretty central to all of the tourist attractions.

The people were helpful,When I had questions about directions I got quick help with a smile. There were many helpful paplets in the room that helped me get the best price on tours. Close to the action, in a good area, for a great price. Get there early for the contenetal breakfast or it will be gone. Parking lot small maybe 10 spots.I'd Park for your stay and use the bus to save on parking.
