Close to our daughter
We've stayed at the Carriage Inn 4 times,now. Our daughter lives right around the corner and its very close to shopping, great restaurants in the area and even walkable to ferry building if you're a serious walker. The decor is really quirky and cute. It's always very clean and staff is friendly. Price was great and we appreciated the $10 discount on parking. They let us leave the car there for a couple hours after we checked out. It's our go-to hotel in San Francisco.

Clean and Quiet
It was in a very quiet neighborhood. I felt safe coming back from a late night out. There are a couple homeless here and there but you'll see them everywhere. Staff was polite and helpful. Like most people mentioned, there is only one receptionist so be patient when checking in. Room was very clean when we got in. No fridge or microwave but didn't really need it. Bathroom was spacious but no vent! I really think hotels should invest in bathroom vents. If I'm going to be picky about one thing in particular then shower heads need to be washed. Other than that it was a pleasant stay and I don't mind staying here again.

Good hotel for the value
The rooms were cute and comfortable. A few dirty dots here and there, like hairs in the shower, but overall clean enough. Considering the price, we were happy with this hotel but weren't expecting it to be as clean and new as a Marriott or Hyatt. The location is very close to the BART and cable cars. The block isn't the best but it didn't feel unsafe, just a little sketchy. Nicer neighborhoods are only two blocks away, so it's not deep into a bad neighborhood. It in a pocket of older buildings.

Great For Conferences
Other than being situated in bad of town, I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The breakfast vouchers redeem only small meals so supplement it with more food.

Cute room!
This room was perfect! Very cute and clean. Not the greatest neighborhood - lots of sketchy people around. But only a short walk to the subway system, busses and trolleys and shopping. Make sure you have your printout of how many people you have booked. They tried to charge me extra for 3 people but I was able to prove that's the way I booked it so it was quickly resolved. Small but hot continental breakfast next door. I would book it again.
