Meh

This place was so so. No amenities really, unless you count a vending machine. The staff was not very knowledgeable about the area. I was given wrong directions. Also when I called for my car (which cost $35 a night to store and was covered in bird excrement when I got it back) it was never called for and I had to wait over an hour. This place was pretty expensive and didn't have much to offer, besides a trendy looking room.

exit the hotel and go west on sutter till you reach Van Ness. Take the 47 Muni bus to Fisherman's Warf. Get off on N/ Point and Jones. Walk down Jones and you will reach the piers. I recommend eating at one of the little stands. Skip the corporate restaurants.

Stay Classy San Francisco!

Our stay at Hotel Vertigo was fantastic! The staff was extremely helpful and nice...I mean everyone! Even the maintanence guy gave us a wonderful suggestion of a place to go at the "Starlight" down on Powell! Gregory at the front desk was exceptional as well. The hotel was a nice mixture of old and hip/contemporary. Nothing too over-the-top, just about right. The location was about a 50-minute walk to the Wharf (if you're the athletic type, saves money) and close to Union Square. You can take a quick Muni ride to the ballpark too. Never got hassled by anyone else anywhere on the street or inside somewhere. Everyone was suprising friendly. The shuttle Gregory hooked us up with only had a few stops before the airport and was cheaper than a cab....by alot! Thanks Hotel Vertigo!

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Take the Super Sightseeing Tour (blue bus). It was about half a day and was great! You see all of SF and the tour guide was very knowledgable about the area. I used to live in Cali and learned new stuff!

Great stay for singles or business

Room was great, clean and very cool decoration. Try and get a room with out an adjacent door b/c I could hear my neighbors phone go off every minute! Otherwise people were very helpful and friendly, convinient location and great price.

Just Fine for SF

Having stayed at this hotel about five years ago, the renovation was quite eye-opening! I must admit that white and orange would not be my choice. And the faux leather on the bathroom wall was definitely different. But, the king bed was comfortable, the refrig was nice; lighting was good; having a safe was also good; bathroom was fine. The closet was a bit cramped with the dresser, safe and coathangers. Our weather was nice, so we did not need to use the HVAC - it looked a bit dated. The staff was nice and helpful and the room was very clean.

At the end of the same block as Hotel Vertigo were two coffee shops - across the street from one another. Both were good for breakfast - eggs, omelets and pancakes.

OK

Way too much carpet freshen to cover up the musty old smell. Gave me a pounding headache. Room fairly dirty. Soda spilt all over bed which made sticky. Mud all over chair bases. Room in dire need of a good spring cleaning. Good location. Staff very nice and helpful. Few amenities but would trade the lack of for the price. Hotel has potential but needs to be updated.

Clean rooms, good location

We stayed in Petite Queen for 4 nights over the New Year's holidays. Front desk staff were helpful and polite, the room was clean and cozy, and the location was convenient - lots of dining options, mini-markets and coffee shops in the area. I was a little worried about the neighborhood -some reviews suggested it's somewhat sketchy, but it's simply not true. You might have a homeless guy ask you for some change and a cigarette, but that's it. We never felt threatened or uncomfortable on the street even after dark. It is within walking distance of Chinatown (20mins), Japantown (20 mins), Moma (20 mins), Downtown (20 mins) and Fisherman's Warf (45 mins). If you want to explore the city on foot, get a feel for San Francisco Atmosphere and have a room with a unique romantic feel - Vertigo is for you. Here are some things to be prepared for: Valet Parking will cost you $35 a day with unlimited in/out privileges. You have to call 30-40 minutes in advance to have your car ready. Street parking is tough, but doable after a day or two of figuring it out. Just read ALL the street signs and learn meter operation hours. There are also 2 street public garages in the area. Using those can save you about $15 a day. Hotel is located in a historic building, so with charm come little inconveniences-thin doors (be very quiet in the hallways), older tubs and elevator. Overall we really enjoyed our stay:it felt more like an apartment in the city than a hotel, and it is a great way to travel.

There's a sushi place that you MUST visit if you are staying near Nob hill area. Freshest fish I've ever had in my life! We went for sushi every single night to different restaurants and this one made an impression. It's worth a walk! It's called Okoze and it's on 1207 Union St.

Amazing Value with uncompromised quality

Hotel is 100% renovated. Room was spotless & staff was great. Some older reviews talked about noise from other rooms, but the hotel was full while we were there and we never heard anyone. Door was very heavy and soundproof. Yes it is only a 3 star, small hotel but with room coffee, lobby coffee, fridge, great lighting in room and free internet it is quite a bargain.

no room at the Inn

First my flight was change and I call the hotel to tell them that I was going to be late but I would be there, When I got there I didn"t have a room. They had over booked. They sent me to another hotel and everyone that I was with was at this hotel. I got to the other room at 2 am. When back the next day and they had me a room at 3 pm that day. This was the first time that I ever did something like this and I hated the EXPERIENCE all the way. Thanks
