Modern, fun hotel with very helpful staff
Our experience at this hotel was unmatched. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and offered any assistance we could want. The concierge gave us information, including maps, and bus and dining suggestions. The hotel is a modern, fun hotel that was perfect for our San Francisco getaway. It was the perfect distance between the downtown area (Moscone Center) and the popular Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel rooms were clean and modern, and they included many little extras that made the room just a bit better, such as q-tips and cotton balls. I definitely recommend this hotel for your next San Francisco stay, especially given the friendly staff and proximity to the primary locations one might visit in San Francisco.

Another Fantastic San Francisco Trip
The hotel is absolutely fine and well enough located, the rooms are ideal and well maintained but the standout feature is the staff who are all very helpful and exceptionally pleasant. Please lookout for and say hello to Gregory at the lobby desk and if you like music he is the man to talk to. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Very happy
We were very pleased with this hotel and our experience there. The staff was very friendly and helpful; the room and hotel were clean and funky and up-to-date as well as comfortable (and I experienced them as quiet). The location was safe and had some cafes and store conveniently close by. We did not go to these but areas we did spend time in (Fisherman's Wharf, China town, financial district, Japan town, etc.) were less than a 2 mile walk/jog through safe neighborhoods. Of note, there was no air conditioning; this was not a problem as it was only in the 50s and 60s in August. There was also no room service, which was fine but those that value this should be aware. I would definitely stay at Hotel Vertigo again! I really enjoyed the experience.

a perfect boutique hotel
My husband and I came to San Francisco for part of our honeymoon, and the Hotel Vertigo was an absolutely perfect boutique San Fran experience. It had so much character and charm, but also was very clean and modern. The king executive suite that we had looked exactly like the picture on the website. The bathroom was very modern and updated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, and they gave us directions multiple times when we wanted to explore the city. The location was also great, as it was only a couple blocks walk from the main trolley line through San Fran. It was also walking distance from Grace Cathedral and other restaurants, etc. in Nob Hill. We loved our stay at the Hotel Vertigo, and we're planning on coming back for our anniversary :-)

Meh
This place was so so. No amenities really, unless you count a vending machine. The staff was not very knowledgeable about the area. I was given wrong directions. Also when I called for my car (which cost $35 a night to store and was covered in bird excrement when I got it back) it was never called for and I had to wait over an hour. This place was pretty expensive and didn't have much to offer, besides a trendy looking room.

Stay Classy San Francisco!
Our stay at Hotel Vertigo was fantastic! The staff was extremely helpful and nice...I mean everyone! Even the maintanence guy gave us a wonderful suggestion of a place to go at the "Starlight" down on Powell! Gregory at the front desk was exceptional as well. The hotel was a nice mixture of old and hip/contemporary. Nothing too over-the-top, just about right. The location was about a 50-minute walk to the Wharf (if you're the athletic type, saves money) and close to Union Square. You can take a quick Muni ride to the ballpark too. Never got hassled by anyone else anywhere on the street or inside somewhere. Everyone was suprising friendly. The shuttle Gregory hooked us up with only had a few stops before the airport and was cheaper than a cab....by alot! Thanks Hotel Vertigo!

Take the Super Sightseeing Tour (blue bus). It was about half a day and was great! You see all of SF and the tour guide was very knowledgable about the area. I used to live in Cali and learned new stuff!

Just Fine for SF
Having stayed at this hotel about five years ago, the renovation was quite eye-opening! I must admit that white and orange would not be my choice. And the faux leather on the bathroom wall was definitely different. But, the king bed was comfortable, the refrig was nice; lighting was good; having a safe was also good; bathroom was fine. The closet was a bit cramped with the dresser, safe and coathangers. Our weather was nice, so we did not need to use the HVAC - it looked a bit dated. The staff was nice and helpful and the room was very clean.

At the end of the same block as Hotel Vertigo were two coffee shops - across the street from one another. Both were good for breakfast - eggs, omelets and pancakes.
