- Union Square itself hosts art shows, lunchtime opera, last-minute rock concerts, and the city's annual Christmas tree.
If you like a morning walk, step out our door to the corner of Post and Powell. Walk down the diagonal path through Union Square's center, heading for Neiman Marcus. Half a block to your left you'll discover the entrance to Maiden Lane, a delightful two-block side street of exclusive boutiques. The inside of the Frank Lloyd Wright building at 140 Maiden Lane is a study for his interior for the Guggenheim Museum.
If you're coming in from dinner, take a few minutes to walk a block down Post to Tiffany & Co. Their window designers display extraordinary creativity on their very small scale. Stop in the bookstore on the way back; it's open until 11 pm.

Nicest staff in the city
The innkeeper clearly hires only the most professional and pleasant people, and it really shows. I recommend this inn for the most enjoyable stay in SF. The added touches like extra breakfast choices and cookies at night, and the community atmosphere at the evening wine and cheese make this one of the very best places to stay. Everyone is very accommodating, and the location is convenient, with elegant rooms and good food.

I had a great experience here. I checked in late, but the front desk staff was courteous and friendly. The rooms are wonderful and the breakfasts and late night cookies and tea top it off.

Inn at Union Square
This was a perfect location. The hotel is small but like a personal club. The staff was incredible from three different front desk hosts to every staff person we met in the hotel. The internet wireless connection was great. They had a wonderful continental breakfast every morning and wine and cheese every night. The only negative was no view and no air conditioner. However, the temperature in San Fran does not warrant AC and the room had an excellent overhead fan with variable speeds. There was a great big wide screen TV with cable and the queen bed and pillows were just right. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. We highly recommend this gem of a hotel. Oh, they have a parking garage around the corner that allows 24/7 in and out for one low price per day! Love it, love it, loveit!

Farallon for dinner. Next door to the hotel and rated top 10 in the city. The decor made you feel you were underwater. The food made you feel you were in France.

Boutique hotel with great location
Great location with extremely personable service that reminds us of Paris - the innkeeper was around for daily breakfast and evening snack and was sure fresh fruit out all day. The front desk had many helpful suggestions to help us get around. We would stay again - Be aware that the rooms are well appointed but small and not air conditioned!

Great Location. Friendly Staff.
I thought the location was great. Easy to get around the city and to tour bus stops. Many great restaurants in the immediate area as well. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and well maintained! Each night there was a cocktail hour of wine, cheese and small snacks that was very much enjoyed. We were located on the 3rd floor and there was only a view of the adjacent building, BUT it was an extremely quiet location. I will trade a view for a great nights sleep everytime.

Inn at Union Square - Wonderful!
A great location. Easy to get to all the famous tourist attractions. Rooms are small and have no view, the carpet quite stained but who cares - we were out all day long! The staff is remarkable. The Innkeeper so friendly, he visited at the wine/hors d'oeuvre event every night. Met wonderful guests from all over the country. Again, the staff wonderful!

small but great hotel
the hotel was kind of small, we almost missed it when we tried to find it on the first day. but the inside of the hotel is very nice. it has an european style and classic feel. Our room was kind of small but very romantic, reminds me of home. The service is great, but it was very frustrating that we got interrupted from a room cleaning lady one morning. She knocked on our door and then tried to get in without our consent. it was kind of rude. And you can hear the noise out in the hallway in the morning. that was a minus. The breakfast was great, though only a few options, and most of them are cold desserts. The location is fantastic!! Almost everything is of walking distance. In all a nice hotel to try.
