small room, no view
disappointed with the Sir Francis Drake, starting with $50 a night to park a rental car. Room was really small, poor view, tiny bathroom with no where to hang hand towel and no space on tiny sink for a hairbrush even. Toilet paper roll kept falling off, needed extra pillows and noisy neighbors woke us up two nights in a row late into the night. No microwave or minibar. No TV in exercise room. Don't know how it rated 4 out of 5 stars.

Great Hotel in a Great Location
I truly enjoyed my experience at the Drake. The front desk staff checked me in early, the room was very nice, newly decorated, clean and comfortable. The hotel offered the best of classic San Francisco in a historic building holding onto traditional luxury and while being thoroughly modern and cutting edge. The location is a perfect starting point for all points of the city with cable cars right at the front door. I am looking forward to my next visit later in the summer!

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Lunch at Ferry Plaza Seafood in the Ferry Building. Dine on oysters on the halfshell and clam chowder at their long marble bar looking out to the bay and all the boats and activity.

Long weekend getaway
The best part about the hotel is its location. It's close to all the great shopping areas and restaurants. Really friendly staff. Not the most luxurious hotel but you get your money's worth.

Nice Location and Value
Only problem was the key cards. I had to have them recoded about 4 times in 2 days. Very annoying to get to your room and not have the card work not once but 4 times!

Rooms too small.
The standard room is smaller than my closet, but it is an older hotel. Wish they had coffee in room, but there is no room. Had to either go to lobby or Starbucks. Staff was excellent and it was right in union square. Cable cars were loud though.

Easy Shopping Weekend
Stayed for a weekend getaway. Excellent location with shopping and restaraunts well within walking distance. A bit noisy if you do not find the clang of the cable car bells desirable. The minus for me was that the heating/cooling vent was right over the bed, so when the AC kicked in, it got pretty cold.
