Noisy!
Probably won't stay here again. Somebody's car alarm was going off over and over all night. In the morning, we realized that the car in question was in the hotel garage, in the space closest to the registration desk - unacceptable that management did nothing about it. Room heater didn't work, so they had a little space heater, which was either too hot or too cold. Did not appreciate surprise charges - $20 for pets and $3 for parking.

Good place to stay.
While the hotel had a section under remodel it didn't impede the enjoyment of our stay. The hotel is close to the peer and within walking distance of State street. The room was good, the patio was nice and the continental breakfast was enjoyable. they also had a heated pool which was nice to dip in and warm up after taking a swim in the ocean. Overall its was a good place to stay.

Great Location
Great location, easy walking distance from Amtrak station, and just a few blocks from Stearn's Wharf and State street.

Not The Best
We stayed overnight, the basic facilities were ok the room did have a fusty smell. The room had the basics but the shower was old and in poor condition. Basically the facility is old and requires modernisation. The night staff (we stayed on a Saturday night) was poor, he was behind the front desk listening to RAP music with his friend, not a Best Western policy I'm sure.The morning staff were good. The breakfast area was cramped but the continental breakfast was ok apart from the paper plates.

It was okay for the price
PROS: The location of the hotel was great. It was easy to get to from the 101. It was in walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. The continential breakfast was probably the best of our one week trip of California. The staff was friendly. Clean and fairly well maintained. Reasonable price for Santa Barbara. CONS: Room was a little cramped. Outside noises made it a loud stay. I am a light sleeper, and this made it a little hard to sleep. We had to open the windows to stand the temperature, which definitely added to the noise. No airconditioning. They had a ceiling fan and some kind of air recirculation system, but it, for sure, was not air conditioning. Because we had inside facing bottom floor room, the air flow from open windows was limited. The room was pretty hot and stuffy even though the temperature outside was cool. At checkout they sprung a $3.00 parking fee on us. It wasn't that big a deal cost-wise, but it pisses me off that they would do that when we had no expectation of that. Just another way to nickel and dime us. Because of this last point, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to a friend. It's the tipping point.

CORONA GIRL
NOT EXACTLY WHAT I EXPECTED
THE ONE GOOD THING WAS HOW CLOSE IT WAS TO THE BEACH. THE ROOM WAS VERY SMALL AND SOMEWHAT COLD. THE FLOORS WERE TILE AND THERE WAS NO HEATER. OUR ROOM WAS RIGHT NEXT TO THE MAINTENANCE CLOSET, SO THE NEXT MORNING WE WERE AWAKEN BY THE NOISE, WHICH WAS VERY UPSETTING.
