Inn at East Beach

Safe, clean, pleasing decor. This is a funky (in a good way) hotel that is clean, comfortable and quiet. The rooms are very large. The hosts are fantastic and willing to help in any way they can. Great courtyard to listen to the ocean (although you can't see it unless you stand up), read and relax. The drawback, is while there is a small fridge, there is no microwave. They do have some rooms with fireplaces/kitchenettes, but I usually go for the basic room. One has to go to the lobby to use the microwave, which can be an inconvenience. I stay at this motel every time I travel to Santa Barbara (1-2 times/year).

It was a superb hotel. All aspects were wonderful.

From check in to check out this hotel was fantastic.

My room was dirty when I checked in- the cleaning woman had to scramble and clean while I waited. The front desk person Frank couldn't care less. They offered me a bottle of wine to cover for the dirty room. Very expensive for very little, only good thing is location. Spend a few hundred more and get a better place.

This is a great location and proximity to the beach. I would stay there again. The room was excellent condition.

Looks like a converted Apartment complex, Nothing special. Staff very helpful and friendly, walking distance to the beach and resturants

It was small hotel but Room was clean, Staff was nice. It's very close to the beach. It took about 5min by walk. It was good place to stay.

It began with [...] and she great. She told me of all the activities in Santa Barbara and she was very freindly and helpful. The room was modern and comfortable with many extra pillows. Then [...] greated us in the morning and explained all of the breakfast items. By the way there were many items that were offered. It was a great stay.

Our stay was fantastic. The hotel was one block from the beach and conveniently located to everything Santa Barbara. We would stay here again, the only draw back was our room had no bath tub. A plus when traveling with kids...and my wife.

Unfortunately, this was a creepy hotel experience. [...], the General Manager, made a nice first impression. When I walked into my room, the hotel had a "funky, mold-like smell." I went to complain to [...]and he did a quick check and said he didn't smell anything. Then, he gave me options of leaving the room for a few hours so he can air out the bathroom or he can use an ionic machine to filter the air. I told him these were not viable solutions and asked if I could change room. He said all the guests have checked into the double bed rooms. Then he offered to let me cancel my reservation or he will help me find another hotel. I agreed to the first option but he insisted he would help me find another hotel and started calling. The Hotel Mar Monte was offering a lower price for the night. I agreed to take the Hotel Mar Monte room, but then, [...]realized I had paid a high price for my room and wanted to keep me. Miraculously, [...]found a room with double beds available. I decided to check out the room and give him a chance. The second room did not have a smell but I wondered why he could not have offered me the room in the first place vs lying that no room was available. When I went to bed, the bathroom sensor light did not turn off; the heater had a burnt smell and when I accidentally turned on the ceiling fan, it had a creaking sound. I really thought I was in a horror movie at this point. In the morning, I could hear my neighbors every move upstairs. By mid-day, my 2 friends met me at the hotel to go to lunch. [...]followed them when they arrived on his property and interrogated them on what they were doing there and if they were staying. I stay at hotels for business travels year around and have never had any friends be questioned when they arrive on hotel property. This experience definitely tops as the most creepy hotel stay ever!
