Excellent place to stay
Have stayed at the Sheraton Mountain Vista before as a guest of a time share owner. Facilities are excellent, new and very clean. Bus stop to shuttle to Beaver Creek and Vail are right infront of the property. Only drawback is that it is not ski in ski out, otherwise it would be perfect place to stay for the price.

Not overly impressed....
This might be a nice place to stay, but that's about it. I wasn't impressed with much at all. First of all, the location leaves much to be desired. It's basically in the middle of nowhere, about 10 minutes away from Vail. I'd recommend staying right in Vail if that's where you wish to go. The room was supposed to have a humidifier and it did not. I called the front desk to ask for one and never received one. Also, our room did not have a hairdryer which I thought was absurd!!! I called and they brought one up for me, only to find the next morning that it was broken so I had to call YET AGAIN for another one!!! Not very happy! I would only stay here again based on the actual accommodations, because the condo itself was very nice and clean with a large bathroom. I would not recommend Vail to anyone. I was very disappointed and after visiting Aspen during the same trip, I will just go directly to Aspen next time. So much more to do including fabulous restaurants and shopping!!!

Fantastic Accommodations!
Booked this hotel for a rafting trip close by. What a great place to stay! Be sure to book the 7th floor as it has an awesome outdoor hot tub under the stars! The room couldnt have been any better!

Great hotel, and NOT A VILLA
The hotel location was great. We were in the midst of Avon and easily caught buses to ski in Vail and Beaver Creek. One night we walked to dinner just a block away at Vin 48. The other nights we drove a few miles into Beaver Creek for incredible dinners at Spago and Grouse Mountain Grill. The room was advertised as a villa and we expected a small, free standing building. However, I thought it was more of a junior suite. It was smaller than I expected but comfy for my husband and I. We loved having a full kitchen with dishwasher, full-size refrigerator & freezer and convection oven/microwave oven. LOVED having a washer & dryer to take home clean ski gear! The water temps were very inconsistent. And the hot water wasn't very hot. The gym was claustrophobic, with lots of equipment in a very small room. And there were signs on both hot tub doors saying they were out of order even though people were in there! The concierges were great. They were all very friendly, gave good tips on the area businesses, getting around, etc. And they were very helpful getting reservations-even getting us into Spago with only one day advance notice! Checking in was so easy! We arrived at noon and hoped to check in early, but knew it was unlikely since the hotel was booked. But the front desk clerk, Amanda, got our info, checked us in, held our bags for us and had the keys ready for pick up once we returned at 5:30. Overall the hotel was a big part of our great vacation. We definitely recommend it to friends and would stay there again.

Research the area and events going on. We had no idea so many celebrations were happening during our short stay. We would have loved to stay in the mountains longer to enjoy more of the outdoor adventures, events & restaurants.

Nice Facility at reasonable rates
Loved the room complete with 2 fireplaces, small kitechen with appliances and granite breakfast bar and washer/dryer in room. Ski rentals in house with Charter Sports was very reasonable and the service was great. Rooms were very clean, I-70 noise was minimal and we did stay on the side of the resort facing I-70. The fitness center on the 7th floor was very nice with cardio machines and steam room, dry sauna and 2 hot tubs one indoor with mountain views and one outdoor so you could enjoy the cool air and soak after a days skiing/snowboarding. Would definitely stay there again. Also loved the underground garage so you didn't have to scrape or shovel your car out in the morning.

Nice room but extremely HOT!!
Nice and spacious room. However, no air conditioning and the room remained very hot, at about 78 degrees all night even with the sliding door and windows open! I will not consider staying there again because of the heat.

The room was great - separate bedroom, large and clean bathroom, kitchenette, BBQ grill. However, there was no air conditioning so the door and window had to be open to keep the room cool. This let in all the highway noisy. So, you were either cool and noisy or hot and quiet. We were on an anniversary trip, so we liked being away from the busyness of Vail. Yet we were still close to Vail for recreation and shopping.

Not much of a resort
Room was nice, but TVs were outdated and did not work well. The most dissapointing part of the stay was the difficulty getting to slopes. You will need to use public transporation, which means you will wait in lines. There is a gondala at the Westin, which is only about 1/4 mile away. With ski boots on, its really too far to walk, even without small kids. There is a shuttle bus at the hotel, but I was told it was only for tours and that we should use public transportation. I was also told that the public bus line is a quicker way to the slopes than walking to the Westin and changing chair lifts twice. You can walk about 1/8 mile over ice to a direct bus line or you can take a bus from the hotel for about 1/8 mile and switch buses to get to Beaver Creek or Vail. There is also a free lot you can drive to. Staff was friendly, but unhelpful. All in all, you are generally about 45min to 1hr from Beaver Creek unless you drive and well over an hour from Vail -- and a lot of walking. We ended up driving a vehicle and paying $25 for parking at the base of Beaver Creek -- which was well worth it when compared to the public bus line. There is also a free lot a the bottom of the mountain in Avon but, again, it means muliple stops. The hotel could be made much better by simply shuttling people over the the Westin gondala. This would take about 5min.

Short drive from hotel
If you are traveling from out of town on a ski trip, I would not reccomend staying here. You are going to waste a lot of time just getting to the slopes. My suggestion is to stay somewhere in Beaver Creek. It's going to be more expensive, but in the long run, probably worth it. If you stay here, you should definately bring a vehicle.
