The CO funk
A TRULY dizzying cacophony of smels&odor
From the moment you walk in the door the odors begin, the first scent to waft over you is some chemical attempt to smell like smoldering oranges & cinnamon. The physical set up of this hotel favors the strength and endurance of a lumberjack. Its on a hill and some genius designed the back parking lot with steps going up to the hotel instead of a ramp. Can you hear the symphony created by the clunking of luggage going up the concrete steps? This allows you to enter the basement floor and as you come in the waft of chlorine from the pool is enough to give bleach burns to your esouphagus. Thankfully ( or so I thought) out hotel was k. The fourth floor, enter the elevator, which apparantly through its travels captures some of the distingtive scents of each floor as it stops along the way and perhaps some lingering vapors of the previous occupant. Step off onto the 4th floor and stale cig smoke almost knocks u down, as you make your way through the haze, it changes to more burnt fruit with more BO, cig smoke and something none of us could quite identify. Enter the room, stale smell, not smoke just .... funk?, ... the bathroom, smacks of mold bad. Breakfast was sub par over any other bed was comfy, deck was nce to sit on while eating bfast, ... short point, .. when driving through CO and all the hotels are full because of the gold tourney and this is the only one left? = Keep driving! On yeah, one more thing, decided to get some exercise to improve my mood so I went to the funky smelling work out room, only to have the machine cables break 5 mins in, jumped on treadmill but it sounded like there were screaming eels in the belt, so i cut my losses, took a shower in the mold hole and bolted down the highway.....

Beautiful Colorado Springs!
We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Colorado Springs-Air Force Academy.! We were there 3 nights. The hotel was clean and the employees were all very friendly. The check in was fast and pleasant. Really liked that they had an exercise room,I took advantage of the treadmill. The pool and hot tub area was clean also, we sat in the hot tub for a little while to relax. It was great after driving all day! The free hot breakfast was OK, not great, I guess the eggs are powder or something, really not good. The sausage was good, better than the eggs. The ham the second day was not good though. But the muffins were good and they had juices and milk. Coffee was good. There were some places nearby to eat within walking distance, Old Chicago, Outback Steakhouse and TGI Fridays. We ate at Old Chicago and TGI Fridays, they were both really good. we loved being able to look out our window at Pikes Peak, it was beautiful! We will probably stay here again in the future. Great Hotel!

Thanksgiving trip
We were there visiting family for Thanksgiving. Arrived on Wednesday noon, went out for lunch and dinner. Thanksgiving was spent with family and friends. No cleaning service on Thurs. and this was expected. Left mid morning on Friday to go out of town. Came back evening time and the room had not been cleaned. Dirty towels, unclean linens, trash not empted.

Very accomodating!
Hotel staff were very accomodating. They were able to direct us almost anywhere we needed to go; even made phone calls for us. Location is great for seeing all the sights in south central Colorado. Forgot our ethernet cable, and the desk clerk went out of his way to scrounge one up for us. Very clean. Nice sized rooms.
