Great location for a small town Connecticut experience. Our room was large and the bed was good.Breakfast was extensive and much better than most included breakfasts. Staff was very nice and helpful, calling us after we left to let us know we'd left something in the room.

Description
The Homestead Inn was originally built by John Prime Treadwell in 1853, as his private residence which housed three generations of Treadwells until 1915. It was then owned by George T. Sperry until 1928, when it was established as the Homestead Inn by Mrs. Mary K. Philpot and became the leading hotel in the area. In 1938, a second building was added which housed a restaurant for many years. In 1955 the restaurant was closed and the converted to motel rooms. From 1977-1985 it was owned by Mr. and Mrs. MacPherson. Rolf and Peggy hammer owned the property until 2003. Bill Greenman is the current Innkeeper. Danbury CT-14 Mi NE

The Homestead Inn room bed and bath fixtures were clean, but windowsills were obviously dirty with dust and grit, the curtains needed to be washed and ironed and the shower stall was very small with limited room to manuever shower head where it was needed most. While the continental breakfast offered had many choices, the establishment should concentrate on purchasing name brand cereals, even if a fewer amount, and name brand syrup for their delicious waffles instead of the marginal offbrand ones in great quantity.

The cost was very reasonable but the room was poor. Maybe okay if you're only in room overnight. The "closet" was a 18" stainless steel rack attached to wall in the corner behind end of dresser - hard to get to and hangers couldn't be removed so you had to stretch over dresser to hang up items. The one chair was placed in front of dresser. Rearrangement of the room might help. The ironing board was hung on wall behind room door. Sink area was small. The bed had a stamped name of other hotel chain, so may have been bought used. The step into the room was at least 10 inches high, so it was difficult to bring in luggage, and step in and out - possibly a safety issue for children or older adults. The parking lot was odd - no spaces by our building - weren't sure where to park.

Enjoy a 51-inch HDTV in the downstairs living room and two DVD players throughout the house. The main level has a computer workstation with fax, copier and printer. Take pleasure while preparing breakfast in an expansive kitchen with granite counters. Plus, feast on a granite table in the dining room. The house also has a Washer/Dryer, private patio and yard. Pets will love lounging in this house. New Milford CT - 2 miles south from hotel to city
