Channel Inn, May 2013

What a great Inn to stay at while in DC. Walk to the Metro, walk the waterfront. The rates for DC are excellent. The dining is excellent. The rooms do need a coffee maker, but this if from a coffee addict. The happy-hour bar needs to include a selection of wine, at a reasonable price. The décor of the Inn requires an update. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Walk to the Metro but purchase a ticket online in advance. Otherwise, to obtain a discounted pass requires some effort.

Consistent With Prior Reviews

We picked this hotel due its proximity to Nationals Park and the attractive rate. Basically, everything was as per recent reviews. The hotel could really stand some room upgrades, etc. Despite a bit of a "tired" look, the staff keeps the place very clean. With some renovation work, this could really be a terrific place to stay.

Moderate Quality, Great Price/Location

Title says it all. Walking distance from two Metros and the Mall. Lobby smells like fish and the restaurant is ok. Wireless was better this year....

Excellent Location

This little gem is located on the wharf a short walk to the metro and other attractions. It's a boutique property, very quaint and somewhat stuck in the 80's. With that said it is very clean and the housekeeping staff is pleasant. The front desk staff was a little gruff for my taste, but it was an all around pleasant experience.

DANGER! DO NOT STAY HERE

This was the WORST hotel we've ever stayed in! The room was disgusting! The floors were dirty, obviously stained with bodily fluids. You could feel dirt, debris and broken up flooring under the carpet. There was what appeared to be a BLOOD stain on the sofa! The bed smelled musty and un-washed. The hotel "maids" were screaming up and down the hallways at 6-7am in the morning! The front desk staff was extremely rude. I don't know how this place is even allowed to operate. It should be condemned. DO NOT rely on the pictures as an example of what to expect. If we would have been able to find/afford another room near the Mall on short notice we would have! I ended up walking to pharmacy and buying a can of disinfectant and fabric freshener. DO NOT stay at this hotel!

Getaway

Although we booked a queen, we were orginally given a room with twin beds. The staff were very helpful in trying to find us a room with a queen. We were given a room with a full size bed instead. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean.

DC Trek

Overall we were happy with the Channel Inn and it met our expectations. The room is a little date and could use some upgrades but for the price it was definitely in line. Positives: Loved the location. It was very convenient to walk to everwhere we wanted to go - museums, monuments, etc. There is a neat fish market just down the street that was fun as well. Loved being on the water. Negatives: The shower was a little rough - periodic spurts of hot water made it a challenge. Room could have used a deep cleaning - there wasn't any surface dirt or grime but the carpets/bedspreads were very old. In the end, we would likely stay there again. Not a top of the line hotel but an ok place to sleep if you're running around all day long.
