The staff was very helpful and welcoming. There was a hot breakfast every morning and cookies in the afternoon. Everything was in walking distance of the hotel. We had a pretty good time.

WHAT A DUMP!!!!
In short, this hotel is a hot mess and I am telling everyone at my international organization, and our many colleagues in Washington, D.C., never to book anyone to stay at this hotel again. It really is just one step up from being a total dump. Before I tell you why, I do want to recognize that the night staff at this hotel was amazing-- polite, prompt, knowledgeable, and very gracious. You probably will not find a better staff anywhere. The issues lay in the physical plant of the hotel: 1.) My room reeked of cleaning agents the entire time no matter how much I tried to air out the space. 2.) The decor in my room was incredibly worn out--busted lampshades, peeling wallpaper, huge orange stains on the frayed, threadbare carpet. It was depressing. I have stayed in much better places for far less money. 3.) The televisions throughout the entire hotel do not work properly as the large screen TVs in each room are very old and the management never switched over to digital, so all programs are completely unwatchable. 4.) The heating unit in my room reeked of something overwhelmingly sweet, so I had to shut it off. 5.) The elevator needs major repairs. It kept halting between floors and two times I and another guest had to use force to pry the doors open more than a few inches when we arrived at the 5th and 3rd floors. Stay away from here!! Do not embarrass your organization, friends, family, or business by booking anyone to stay here!!!

Very serviceable for a quick trip to the center city area

Class A Place!
The downtown location and humble, helpful staff made this business trip worth it. The room was clean and quaint; the staff were helpful and available (24/7). The complimentary coffee and cookies were awesome! I booked my next stay with them prior to my check out! Class A hotel in a Class A town

Long walk from hotel
I really enjoyed being able to walk to and from the Smithsonian. I could have taken the Metro, but it was nicer to walk along tree lined streets and past shops, restaurants and other sites. The only downside is that they were doing renovations while I was staying there...but they reimbursed me for the cost of going to a gym around the corner, since the fitness center was also under renovation.

Hotel is undergoing renovations and presently is not at its best. The hotel staff is excellent - helpful and knowledgeable. Serve yourself breakfast is more than adequate. Other than fitness center, there is little for teens to do. Hotel is within walking distance of China Town, restaurants and some shops. The Capitol,etc., is a short cab ride away. Walking for older people is not an option to the Smithsonian buildings or White House. A good hotel close to the convention center and for business people.
