The Embassy Inn is currently a thirty eight room bed and breakfast hotel. The Inn originated in 1910 as an eight unit apartment house. In 1919 it was further renovated into a thirty room tourist hotel. The current owners re-opened the inn in 1987 as a thirty eight room hotel. The Embassy Inn's moldings, mosaic entrance tiles, and marble stairway are original and its furnishings are simple and comfortable reproduction antiques. Start each morning with an expanded continental breakfast to get you going for the day's activities. The neighborhood includes the Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan areas with many diverse restaurants and shops to explore. The Inn is easily accessible to Washington's business district, museums, monuments, and universities. The White House is only 10 blocks south of the Inn, and the National Zoo is also nearby. The front desk staff can assist with dining, theater, sight-seeing, and transportation information and arrangements throughout your stay.

good night stay

I had a good night stay here. I needed to be down town, and the location was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice Quiet Area!

It was ok. I needed the room to study, so I didn't do anything but confine myself to the room. However, it is very close to Dupont Circle.

Comfy place, great location

The best thing about this hotel is obviously its location. It's a short walk to the Dupont Circle Metro stop. The area is really safe and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to go to. The older, male receptionist who checked us in wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either. The other two were super nice though. The room was very cute and basic, you had everything you needed. The only odd thing was I had to run the shower for about 10 minutes before the water got hot, but then it was perfectly fine. In short, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Tiny rooms, inferior service, great location.

Room comfort: the rooms are very tiny, the beds very narrow, they gave us a room in the basement and the carpet was damp. Bathrooms are new and room furniture is nice. Room cleanliness: the room was clean but with a strong odor of cheap cleaning or air freshening product – very unpleasant when you're trying to sleep. Staff: desk staff behavior is not very professional but fairly friendly. Cleaning staff is loud and rude, occupy the place like their living room and the customers don't exist. First time I see anything like it. The maintenance guys who were there that day were way more friendly that anyone who works at the hotel. I think this is important because it tells you something about the hotel management: they don't care. Location: just great.

Great deal for DC

We booked this hotel for one night before transferring to a much higher priced hotel for a conference I was attending for work. For under $100 in Washington DC, I have to say that it was a great deal. The room wasn't fancy, but it worked. The staff was very friendly and offered good advice on how to get to our tour of the White House.

Near DC Historic District - local restaurants and bars too

I have been to all the "down town" fancy restaurants and Hotels. But if you stay at this tiny - not fancy hotel - then walk (don't take a taxi) one block down a tree lined street to 17th street to find 15 restaurants and bars that well heeled locals go to every day. The DC locals will not like that I wrote this review because it will open up those trendy local spots to tourists. Tons of outdoor eating on 17th street. Sure - this hotel is tiny, but the location is fun.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Since the rooms do not have refrigerators and the inn does not have dining facilities, and dining out can be costly, it is good to have a major food market a few blocks away.

Good clean no-frills hotel

It's not the Ritz, but the small room was clean. I liked the firm mattress. Saw one spider, but I got him good. Only 1/2 mile from the fancy hotel at which my conference was being held, but at less than half the price. Air conditioner worked well, which was key, as DC is hot in August. It had a thermostat so I didn't wake up to an icebox, and wasn't too noisy to sleep, frequent problems even in fancy hotels. Bring earplugs (which I always do when travelling) as the street got occasionally noisy when the weekend hit. As a middle-aged single female professor, I'm fussy about cleanliness, but I don't need frills and my funds are limited, and I would definitely stay there again.

not good

Rude staff. Not clean rooms. We asked for two beds and when we came it was only one bed room available. Staff was horrible in fixing their own mistake.
