Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites WASHINGTON DC NORTHEAST

Though too far to walk to the National Mall, the hotel makes up for it by having a very good shuttle service to and from Union Station. They serve good hot breakfast and their staff is friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was cleaned every day and had a microwave, iron and refrigerator which is great for our family.

We were going to the Mall and getting there was time consuming. They do provide a free shuttle to the Metro that runs on the hour or (sometimes) half hour, taking about 15 min. We had no problem with this service. the breakfast was pretty good. The room was spacious and comfortable. My only complaints were that there is no hair dryer provided. The extra blanket at the end of the bed needed to be washed. Finally, the hot water to the sink was turned off, and hot water ran out quickly when the hotel was very busy (e.g. Saturday)

Nice place as you can expect from a HI express. The only minus is the location and the distance to major attractions in DC.

We took this trip over my daughter's Spring Break in 2011. It was very difficult to find a hotel for a reasonable price that had all the amenities we were looking for. I have stayed at other Holiday Inn's before and had never experienced the absolute lack of customer service like we did here. We actually stayed at a Holiday Inn in Philadelphia on the trip down and it was fantastic. Not one person that worked here at this hotel said excuse me, please ,or even simply said thank you. I saw house keeping staff get onto elevators with bags of laundry before letting guests get on that were waiting for the elevators. One of the front desk staff actually almost ran into my daughter in the hallway and never said excuse me or I'm sorry. Be careful the bathtubs are very slippery. I slipped and fell getting into the tub and hurt my leg. The gym was adequate and my husband and I never had to wait to use the equipment we wanted to. The indoor pool was full of little kids the week we were there so we only used it once. The free breakfast was just OK for me, but was just fine for my husband and daughter. It offered scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage,biscuits and gravy, toast, cinnamon rolls, and cereal. I like fresh fruit or oatmeal, and they didn't offer either.

My only fault with the Hotel was the shuttle. To compensate for location, there was a free shuttle provided to Union station D.C. While this operated from 6 am until 11.30 pm, it was not available between midday and 5pm. It was also necessary to book the night before due to capacity limitation.

This hotel is a shuttle bus ride into the centre. There are no decent cafes, bars or restaurants near to the hotel and its on a busy road, the surrounding neighbourhood is not very desirable. The hotel offers a free shuttle service into the centre (takes 15-20 mins) but its advisable to book as it only runs once an hour and gets full at peak times. Breakfast is taken in the lobby area as there is no cafe or bar in the hotel.

Nice clean room, Good continental breakfast. Shuttle to Union Station. Would be nice if shuttle ran more often and could stand to be bigger. But we had few problems getting too and from Union Station. You are charged a fee to park which is not listed. The rates are less that what you would pay downtown to park.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary dinner and breakfasts were delicious. We also liked the fact that they had lots of free parking in their lot. The convenience of the complimentary shuttle to Union station was great. The two things that could have been a little better was the hot tub and the shuttle. The hot tub only had one of the jets working, but it was still enjoyable and we thought that having more than one shuttle pick up time an hour at Union station would have been nice. I would definitely recommend the hotel to those who want to stay in Washington, DC.

The staff was friendly & wonderful. I have stayed there for 4 days on & 3 days off for the last 3 weeks & the staff always remembers me. They also assisted me in jump-starting & replacing a dead battery in my car. They also have free shuttle service to the metro. Very convenient even though they are 4-5 miles from the capital.
