services from 0rbitz
We arrived at Renaissance and were told that 0rbitz did not contact Renaissance hotel in regards to our room preferences as we have told 0rbitz when making our reservation over the phone (with 0rbitz). We wanted a double bed for the rooms and end up with single beds instead. So for future reservation through 0rbitz or any third party agencies, make sure you call the hotel to confirm your booking and preferences.

Great Location, Good Value
The place was in a great spot -- close to the metro, and a nice walk to Georgetown, Dupont or the monuments. The room was pretty small but it was clean. The bed was also pretty small -- they said it was a queen, but i'm pretty sure it was only a full-size. Other than that, it was a nice place and we got a good deal, so we were happy with it.

Ask for exterior room
My room was at the end of the hall with a tiny window that looked out on to an interior courtyard of sorts - very dark and uninspiring. I was only staying for one night, so it didn't matter much to me. Also, the walls are thin, which DID matter. I wasn't happy when my neighbor started his conference call via speakerphone at 2:00 a.m.

Nice stay at the Renaissance
My 17 year old brother, my husband, and I spent 4 nights during Presidents Day weekend at the Renaissance Dupont Circle. The hotel is located between Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom stations, about a 7-10 minute walk in either direction. This was hugely convenient. The room was nice and spacious, though the wifi was not complimentary. My 3G signal was also weak (not their fault but fyi). Thankfully, there are computers and free wifi in the lobby. If more than two people are staying in one room, be sure to call the hotel ahead of time to reserve a room with two beds. My brother was stuck on a cot because we "didn't request a room with two beds." (Shouldn't they assume you need two beds knowing that there are three guests...?) Don't expect total quiet, as we could hear people talking in the halls and in neighboring rooms. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, and room service was great, especially breakfast. Also, the Illy coffee shop in the lobby was great for grabbing breakfast in the AM or a quick afternoon coffee.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Kramerbooks in Dupont Circle... about a 10 minute walk. I highly recommend the hanger steak and the apple/banana bread pudding!

Great trip to D.C.
Very helpful staff, excellent location for walking to the National Mall or any of the restaurants/bars near Dupont Circle. The maid service missed us one day but that was my only complaint. Overall, a very good value!

Not family friendly
This was not a great hotel for a small family. The room was very small and the beds not comfortable. However, the staff were exceptional and very friendly.

Emergencies need special attention!
I was staying here for the Marine Corp Marathon and the location couldn't be better. Illy coffee didn't open early like last year on the day of the marathon. Also the staff seemed oblivious to the fact that we had a Superstorm headed toward DC. I asked about the storm plans and no one could answer me. I got no information about plans for a power outage or an offer to continue to stay at the same rate because all flights out of DC were cancelled. When I got an email from a different hotel group, the Kimpton inviting me to be taken care of down the road for the storm at special rates, I packed up and left because Renaisance was going to up my rate over $125 a night. At the Kimpton Medera I received information about the storm, emergency procedures, a special rate and welcome open arms. Much of the staff had made arrangements to stay and keep the hotel and restaurant open. They will certainly get my business next time as the Marriott chain had no answers. I also am a Marriott Rewards member but may rethink that based on their lack of emergency readiness. Would hated to have been there paying extra if anything bad had happened.
