Spacious and accessible
On first arrival, the staff was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. They pointed out the Whole Foods which was located just 3 blocks. Of course, this greatly complimented the full kitchen which accompanied the room, and made the cost of food for my stay much more affordable. The hotel was also within walking distance to many attractions. The room was extremely spacious. I liked that they had hypoallergenic pillows. My only complaint is that the beds were mediocre- I've been in other hotels where they were better.

Best kept secret in DC
Other than no internet working in the room, it was a fabulous experience! I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Close to everything; Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, Washington Monument and The White House. Very, very nice staff. It was an apartment building made in to a hotel. Super large rooms with separate bedrooms and full kitchen.

Impressive!
I was shocked by how large and well-equipped the studio was, including closet, dressing room, and enormous kitchen, for the great weekend rate I got. Everything was very clean like you would expect in a hotel, but with the benefits of an extended living setup. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept at in ages and the staff was also very helpful and friendly. It's a short walk to both the metro and the west end of the mall, and really to anywhere downtown, which worked great for me without a car. Wonderful option!

Whole Foods is right next to the Foggy Bottom metro and a great place to pick up stuff to prepare in your kitchen!

Comfortable suite room
We would give this hotel a four or five star rating if a few things were improved. The internet service was spotty and was ethernet rather than WiFi, so you could not be away from the desk. They advertised a fully stocked kitchen. There was one pot, no plates, no oven, no dishwashing items and minimal utensils. We were supplied with a few things when we asked, but we had to buy a knife, a cutting board and a few other things. We planned to stay 2 weeks because we could cook, so we were disappointed. We loved the suite idea and the cleaning staff did a great job. The bed was really comfortable and it was relatively quiet. Great location in a nice area about 5 blocks from the metro and almost right on the Capitol Mall.

Great..for the right price
The double bed suite was very spacious & clean. The location is walking distance from the Metro and several memorials & historic sites. The only two complaints that I have are 1) the kitchen has a stove top but no pots or pans and 2) the noise level was a little high. Our window faced the alley between the hotel & the next building & at times we heard the noise loud enough so it sounded like we had the window open.

Good overall, some annoyances
Good overall, but the room was a little bare (though large, with a nice kitchen and sitting room), and the internet went out for a whole day with no apologies. Also, there isn't any WiFi, just a cable.

Great location, good value
We selected the Sate Plaza because of the location. We like walking when we visit the District. The location is ideal for visiting museums, restaurants, getting to the Metro, and to the offices on the Lincoln Memorial end of the Mall. Staff was at the desk every time we came into the lobby. The valet parking was very well attended, always prompt. If you are looking for luxury this isn't it - what is is a very clean hotel with very nice rooms that appear to have been converted from small apartments. The kitchenette is very handy to have. The State Plaza makes for a very convenient base of operations in the District. We will seek it out on future trips.

Great price for a location close to everything
This has been my 2nd time staying here and while it is an older hotel it has a great location , walking distance to all the Smithsonians and all the DC Landmarks . This is the best part, the rooms come with a complete kitchen , stove & a full size refrigerator with freezer, utensils , cups, glasses, plates ..... We stayed at more expensive hotels in DC that do not have all the ammenities this one has ...... Valet parking underneath the hotel is 33 a night tax & everything which is actually pretty reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. A full service CVS next door too....very convenient ...

Long walk from hotel
A long walk or short drive to a newly opened Restaurant on 14th st & Ave F named The Hamilton . Elegant dining for that 1 night you want to eat something other than Museum fare ...... we shared an appetizer , wine , 2 entrees & 1 dessert for $80 ..... the food was excellent , service great , and an incredibly comfortable setting ......can't wait for the next DC trip just to go back there ....Reservations may be necessary , we ate early , about 6 and were seated immediately but by the time we left around 7 the place was filling up & there was a line to get in .....
