Great location and clean.
The staff was very helpful. Our room was a studio with a kithen and was simple but spacious and clean. The common areas are nice and well kept with easily accessable activities. The beach is outstanding.

Tranquil Family Privacy
Our goal for this stay at Island Inn was to be together as a family and have privacy too. Island Inn enabled us to achieve our goal. They were prompt with their assistance on answering our questions. The housekeeping staff went out of their way to greet us every day and ask if we needed anything. We only left the island one time to get groceries as we had a full service kitchen. That gave us more time to be on the beach and enjoy the water and do shelling. The only thing that did concern us was the morning breakfast where it was gratis unless you wanted a hot breakfast and we thought the cost was too high. We are definitely planning on going back next year and it will be the third year in a row that we are going there.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Do not buy groceries on the island as they are markedly higher. Also, if you see an ad in the paper for happy hour drinks and discounted appetizers, make sure you call the restaurant to make sure they are still offering it.

Island Inn was a perfect getaway
We just got back from a stay at the Island Inn and loved it. The staff was terrific and the setting was just what we wanted-low-key and laid back but clean and "beachy". We spent the first two nights of a three night stay at this inn but had to go to Fort Myers for the last night and stayed at a really nice beachfront hotel. We enjoyed the Island Inn and Sanibel a whole lot more. Island Inn-we'll be back! Only negative we encountered were the No See Um bugs..they bite ( a lot) Make sure you visit the office and get the spray they have on the counter to keep these bugs away. Otherwise, avoid the beach at sunset

Doc Fords was really the perfect place to eat. Casual but the food was excellent. I had seafood and it was fresh and hot. More than I could eat. We would eat there again and will when we visit again. For breakfast Over Easy Cafe was a treat. Great food and great staff. I'd recommend both of these restaurants. We wanted casual but great food and got both with these two restaurants.

Not what I expected.
Over the years we've visiting Sanibel many times, taking our children almost every spring for 20 years. The island is still the charming Sanibel we knew and loved, but our hotel/inn experience was not. I guess you can't go back. First I must say the staff was as helpful as they could be and friendly. When I book at ocean view room, I would like it to look at the ocean front on, not sideways. We stayed in Kimball lodge and there is no excuse for dirty soiled carpets and furniture. Thank goodness the bed linens and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was a bowl of cold cereal, an apple or a mini danish. If there is a next time....I will spend a little extra money and stay elsewhere.
