The hotel was great value for the price. The pool and hot-tub were a welcome feature at the end of a day of job and house-hunting. The location is great for getting around on the east and south sides of Jacksonville. The staff was extremely friendly, professional and helpful.

We had a great stay at this La Quinta. The staff was very helpful, the accomodations exceeded our expectations and for us, the location was ideal. The room was quiet and there is a good restaurant (Cracker Barrel) within walking distance of the hotel. We also appreciated the fact that this is a pet friendly hotel.

Upon my arrival to check in. Once I did check in I was assigned to a smoking room which I requested a non-smoking room. Then I received a call from the front desk saying I was selling drugs from my room which was a insult. I was never given an apology by the front desk. There was no iron only a ironing board. Other than that the location was near other restaurants and stores.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. Both times I have found that it is a good value for the price I paid. Though it is not a luxury hotel, the location is ideal & safe and the rooms are clean & spacious. I asked the clerks behind the counter for general information and they lacked the knowledge & information. I did need to request for hand & face towels to be put into the room and they accomdated my request. Overall, I feel I got a good value for what I paid. I spent most of the day out & about anyway and used the room to sleep in and get ready in the morning. The mattresses could use replacement but I was able to sleep well through the night. I give it a 3 1/2 stars.

Do not get me wrong a lot of staff were very good.
However, one individual ruined my experience by screwing up both of my wake up calls to create a lot of problems for me.
Every one else was fine, but you are only as good as your weakest link!

Nice place to stay, convenient to Mayo Clinic

Hallway carpets could use replacing or really good cleaning to remove a few spots, but otherwise the place was very clean and well-run. Located on the edge of a shopping center so anything you need is accross the parking lot, including a Ruby Tuesdays. They have a shuttle to Mayo if you don't have a car, and if you do it's only a few minutes away. The breakfast was typically limited and boring, but adequate. Caution- I had reserved and prepaid for three nights, but my brother was discharged from Mayo early so I only stayed one, and the other two were not refundable. Better to do one night at a time.

We have stayed twice now at the Wingate. It is very well located to be a base for a two day or longer visit for Mayo clinic. The nice breakfast buffet opens at 6:30 AM for the early birds who have 7:30 AM appointments. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, nice TV, and small microwave with a coffee maker, too. There is a good looking exercise room and pool for any having "extra time".

First NONsmoking room assigned smelled of smoke and mildew. Staff was friendly and gave me a different room. Second room smelled of mildew but not of smoke, so I figured it was the best they could do. The room appeared to be clean, but did not smell clean. Did not try the wireless this stay, but it didn't work the last time I stayed there.

It was clean. Check-in and out was easy. Ice machine was always empty. Could not get extra towels. Noticed a lot of drug traffic. Someone tried to break into our Company Truck the second night. They do have security and they did scare them off.

I was there playing golf and I was looking for a cheap hotel without being in the hood. For the the nightly rate of 32 a night it was an excellent deal clean comfortable bed and a kitchen. In a nice area and easy access to the main highways. I will stay there again when I come back. LB of DC

It was a little difficult to find, but no more than the other brandname hotels in the same campus setting. Friendly staff and clean room that was comfortable and had plenty of room. I travel every week and this is a place I'll stay again soon.

the roon was dirty, the kitchen floor actually had a tennis shoe footprint on the floor in dirt...kitchen bathroon floor filthy, sink didnt drain...noise from another room kept us awake two nights, we complained and it was not taken care of and desk person had a bad attitude...i called again and after letting the phone ring 14 times, the girl picked it up and instead of answering hung up in my face.,, i called after 11pm and got another person on the desk who seemed interested in helping and noise stopped...noise sounded like constant walking, dragging furniture around, slamming closet doors, etc....my daughter was on elevator and another guest mentioned that she smelled pot in the elevator all the time and it was worse in the stairwells....two of the maids got into an argument in the hallway and were using the "f" work and the "s" word very loud....

Close enough to the beach without beachfront pricing

With the price I paid, I was kind of expecting a very average hotel but was pleasantly surprised. The lobby is spacious and pretty. The pool was very nice. The rooms are literally the BIGGEST hotel rooms I have ever seen. Everything seemed very clean. I checked for any indication of filth, pests, etc. but found none in either room my party stayed in. I'd wished for better setup with towels, blankets, sheets, etc. especially since we were getting a room with a pull out bed - you'd think they'd put extras in that room for the extra people - but all I had to do was go to the front desk each day for more linens. We were about 15 minutes from Jacksonville Beach, which is a really nice place! The mall is close, plenty of restaurants, etc. The only cons were: no blowdryer in my room, inadequate amounts of linens, and my room had a dreadful smell like someone had smoked in there. Other than that, it was great! I would stay again.

Pretty good place. Clean with a kitchenette. Beds are hard/stiff. When i was there there was a train that came by at 3:00ish AM every day and blasted it's horn. Close to the harbor/boardwalk which is pretty cool for a morning run or nite walk.
The beds were the biggest complaint but many people prefer stiff beds.

Overall everything was nice. But, after 8:30 it seemed as if the front desk clerk would vanish. First night there waited 20 minutes with several other guest just to get checked in. Note on desk said "will be back in a minute." Thursday night after waiting 15 minutes for someone to return just gave up and went back to room.

I was not at the hotel all the time (I went to FL for a
church group reunion in Gainesville; my brother came
for me at Jax and drove me to Gainesville) the time I
did spend at the hotel was most enjoyable. Since I
do not get around very easily (I'm 80 years old) I had
a good book to read and enjoyed the quiet time alone.
The breakfast buffet was outstanding and most enjoyable. If I ever fly to Jax again, I would certainly stay at this hotel.

The hotel was very clean and nice. We chose it because it was central to the Jacksonville airport and St. Augustine and the price was right.
The staff were all very friendly and available.
There is definitely not too much around the area besides the hospital and a few restaurants. Shopping areas and beaches are quite a drive up or down the highway.
As far as the room, it was nice and well kept. Housekeeping stopped by daily to freshen up the toiletries and pick up the room. We definitely wish there had been at least one mirror in the room. The only mirrors were in the bathroom so only one person could get ready at a time.
Great hotel, but we probably would stay in Jacksonville or St. Augustine next time to be sure we are near shopping and entertainment.

My stay was overnight in order to catch my flight the next morning. The motel was comfortable and the service was good. I had no problem with the motel.
The only thing missing was shuttle service to the airport,therefore I had to make arrangements for a taxi.

The rooms and decor is pretty ordinary. The basic setup is for longer stays, so you don't get daily full room cleaning. Consequently the rooms are not impeccably clean. Both rooms I had were basically clean, but had some spots on the carpet and upholstery. If you want the Ritz, you;ll have go to and pay for the Ritz. The price is low - under $50 online, and if you stay a week it is even less, so I consider it a very good value.. The rooms include a small cooktop and full sized fridge.

The room was OK but there is no stove and there are really not sufficient dishes to easily cook a full meal. I would have liked a way to divide the sleeping area from the living area. Good extended stay but NOT deluxe. The staff is SUPERB! Good location with shopping and restaurants close by. In a quiet office area.

Overall the stay was good, the room was clean and the decor was very nice. The front desk attendant however was not pleasant, she didn't greet me or even tell me her name.

The room was very nice for a long stay type hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The problems were the floor was in need of a good cleaning (carpet), and cockroaches in room. After extending my stay by one day AND informing the front desk of this, I got back to my room that night after the front desk closed (by two minutes)to find I was locked out of my room. I just stood in the parking lot and cried. I was so tired and stressed and all I wanted was to get to my insulin (which was locked inside) and go to sleep. The front desk had 2 days to have me bring in my code key but never bothered to tell me this was necessary. I told them at check in that we would be staying an extra day. The emergency phone outside the office should be painted red so people can see it. I finally got a human to come in to the office and fix my code key! Thanks lodes for the drama, I'm sure my nerves really needed the prospect of sleeping in my car.
