Disappointment on Brickell key

The hotel is very nice and the staff appears to be attentive. However, I'm disappointed that there is an additional charge of approximately $30.00 to park your car overnight, each night. Moreover, I had a dispute with my charge for breakfast so i explained this to a desk manager. He understood and removed the charge and gave me my final bill and receipt before i checked out. Approximately, a week later, the entire disputed charged mysteriously appeared on my credit card statement. I will not return to this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, shame about the noise and the extra costs!!!

We stayed in a deluxe veranda room, which had a large balcony with 2 sun loungers overlooking the bay towards downtown Miami. It was a stunning view. The bed was large and comfortable, spotlessly clean room. The bathroom was missing a wall next to the bath so you could watch tv but had a blind that could be pulled down for privacy and the toilet was in its own room. The room felt expensive and it was worth the money. We booked through this website, who hadn't stated that there would be an extra $70 per night tax charge. Internet was $35 for 3 days. I was charged an additional $10 for having a package delivered. The a la carte breakfast menu worked out at $90 for 2 people as every little thing was charged as extra. Dinner in Azul was nothing special but came with a very special price tag of $220 for 2, we only had 1 cocktail each and a starter and a main!!!! We had breakfast and other meals outside the hotel for the rest of our stay. The hotel makes as much money as possible from you. The only problem I had with this hotel other then the additional costs was the noise. The 2nd night we were woken at 6am by hammering, by 6.30am I couldn't take it any longer and called reception. They said they would get it stopped, it did for 10 mins and then started up again. Another call, another stop for 10mins then restart again. We went down to reception and found the front door covered in a big black cloth with no work men. We assumed the front door was damaged and they were fixing it and that was what all the noise was about. 3rd night 6.30am the hammering starts again. A very angry call to reception it stops and then restarts again just quieter. No work was done when guests were actually around in the lobby only when they were trying to sleep and the lobby was empty. A major complaint to the manager and all we got was $90 off our bill of $2630 as compensation, big deal!!! What about my lack of sleep when I was on holiday??? When we left we asked the bell boy what had actually been going on and he said the door wasn't broken they were replacing the carpet for tiles in the hallway. So the manager decided that rather then make noise when guests were in the lobby they would make noise when guests were sleeping. I am so angry that I was paying that much money per night to have my sleep broken for something that did not need to be done and could have been done during normal working hours. Mandarin Oriental you have your priorities seriously wrong!!! Guests stay in rooms to sleep not to admire your lobby area.

Superbowl Weekend

The hotel was beautiful, peaceful and serene. Enjoyed the beach amenities. Hotel staff was friendly, helpful and very accomodating. Spa services were fantastic. Food at the pool side grill and restaurants were outstanding. The room was great. The only thing missing was a cabinet or more counter space in the bathroom to really accomodate two people.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

Short drive from South Beach and other hot spots. The area around the hotel was quiet and very safe for walking, etc but only a few restaurants were accessible this way. Most entertainment requires a car.
