A Lovely Stay for Ultra

My boyfriend and I stayed here for Ultra Music Festival. With that said, we weren't looking for anything special and were pleasantly surprised with a hotel that met our needs. Staff were very friendly... Went out of their way to find us shampoo samples when I didn't have any with me (I guess the negatives could be that they didn't give out shampoo to everyone??). Close to Ultra and easy to get around via bus and metro. I'd recommend for a festival-type trip!

If cockroaches and mold don't offend you then this is your place!!

Upon driving up to the midtown inn, it became apparent I had placed value (still 140+ per night) over comfort. The dingy exterior, was the highlight of this 2 day stay. Upon entering my room at night and finally finding a working light, I was greeted by over a dozen visible roaches on the walls and counter spaces, not including the multiple dead bodies still sticking dead on the walls. Having arrived in the wee hrs of the morning and knowing there was no where to go ( the city was booked with many large events) I had to tough it out. I quickly developed a survival strategy.... keep the luggage zipped, wipe down everything, throw the bed cover and stick with the sheets and try to get some sleep ( truth is it was tough, I scratched all night from thinking about it) STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!, I'm extremely tolerant when traveling, especially with budget motels but cockroaches and mold all over the shower and curtains is simply unacceptable at any cost....

good price,perfect location!

at first glance i was a little bit disapointed, the hotel and the swimming pool didn't look like how i saw in the pictures, but the location and the friendly staff covered up all the negative points, perfect price for that location, housekeeper came to clean the room everyday on time, especially the guy at the front desk (forgot his name) was like a real tourist guide, he circled every place which is worth to see on the map, he explained every details about the place, he knows the whole city very well, from the best mall to the best bar, the best beach to the restaurant, over all, i had a really nice vacation with my family and would definitely recommend if you are looking for something which is suitable for your budget and good location.

No Bed comfort

The bed was hard as a rock, extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. No ice available. A/C was very noisy. Towels dingy. Looks like the type of place they rent by the hour.

Ok for a short stay

For our purpose it was convenient. This inn is ok for a one or two night stay. Air had only two settings, hot and freezing. It is an old an tired inn. Wouldn`t stay there again.

Older but worth the price.

We needed an affordable stay before leaving on our cruise. The motel was close to downtown & the pier. No pickup at the airport, but they did arrange for transfer to pier. Restarants & shops within walking distance. Friendly staff.

You get what you pay for

The hotel room seemed be to clean at first glance and before a more thorough inspection. We where immediately shown our room which was good , the receptionist seemed to be ok, but when I lifted the covers off the mattress we found what looked to be dried blood stains, there was hair in the sink in the bathroom and the bedroom area. The tub was beginning to get backed everytime we showered, and the tv had horrible reception..the location was prettygood but that's about it.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Considering the price difference between catching a cab or a shuttle to my hotel next time I would definetly take public transportation. The shuttle was $34 for two people and because we didn't have a baby seat we couldn't take a cab. We later found out we could take the local bus for $4 to our hotel. We also bought $5 day bus passes instead of paying multiple cab rides.

Midtown Miami Motel

The room was quite acceptable for the price although, as we found out only AFTER checking in, they offer no free shuttle services to/from the airport or cruise dock. The hotel management was friendly & we have no complaints housekeeping or any other staff. The A/C on the other hand...It was INCREDIBLY noisy! We turned it on right after checking in & noticed that it was fairly noisy, but I know that this CAN happen when a unit hasn't been run for a while but may go away after the A/C runs a cycle or two. We then had to leave the room for several hours to return our rental car & make other travel arrangements, eat dinner, etc. Upon returning to the room we found that the noise was actually worse than when we left. We could now hear the A/C compressor rattling & vibrating from several rooms away!We then immediately contacted management about the problem. After about 4 hours of waiting for the serviceman, we were told that: A) the serviceman was unavailable; & B) there were no other vacant rooms. We both feel that this room should never have been rented for ANY price, due to the (known) problem with the noisy A/C unit. [...]In summary: other than the A/C problem it was only a FAIR value for a 3-star room. I really wish that we had known that we would have to PAY for transportation back to the airport to return our rental car and then in the morning to the cruise dock. These two added expenses actually increased the cost of our stay to the point where we could have spent the night at a nicer motel for as much, or even less, total expenditure.
