Free scheduled shuttle service from classy hotel to major theme parks
The Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando hotel may be across from the entrance to Universal Orlando, but it stands on its own when it comes to style. Instead of theme park kitsch, expect classy rooms with lake or park views and high-end amenities like plush-top beds and flat-screen TVs. Chef-driven restaurants like Carnivale and Pompanos Restaurant attract foodies while keeping room for familiar chains like Starbucks and Krispy Kreme. An arcade and heated pool heighten its appeal.

Highlights
  • Across from the entrance of Universal Orlando
  • Free scheduled shuttle service to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Wet N' Wild
  • Multiple restaurants, including festival-inspired Carnivale and Palm Court Deli
  • Arcade, heated pool and fitness center
  • Contemporary rooms and suites with lake views

Rooms

Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase one of the hotel's best attributes: proximity to Universal Orlando. Rooms leave theme park kitsch to the theme parks, however, favoring grown-up furniture, bold contemporary prints in neutral tones of blue of beige, and sleek work desks and media cabinets. Guests unwind in luxury. Rooms boast Sweet Dreams plush-top king or queen beds, a 32-inch flat-screen TV and Neutrogena bath products. Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando hotel guests also access Wi-Fi for a fee.

Dining
Even with a packed itinerary, guests at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando hotel always make room in their schedule for Starbucks (on-site) and the other restaurants for breakfast, lunch a dinner. For true local flavor, try Floribean-inspired dishes at Rio-themed Carnivale (think raw bar and succulent grilled dishes). And the Pizza Hut and Krispy Kreme in the Palm Court Deli cannot be denied.

Recreation

Universal Orlando is within walking distance to the hotel, but just in case guests want to try other theme parks, free scheduled shuttles operate to SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Wet N' Wild. Back at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando hotel, a heated pool and Jacuzzi beckons on warm days, which in Orlando, are a pretty sure bet.

Old & worn out

Everything is great until you get up to your room. The lobby is nice but the room is dirty and worn out. The toilet paper holder fell apart. The shower had a leak. Do not stay here

It's a place to sleep

The carpet was dirty, stained. The bathroom floor was moldy. Because it is a busy hotel and near attractions expect loud guest entering rooms at all hours.

30th Birthday Trip

This was the second time I've stayed at this particular Double Tree hotel. We love the convience to the parks and absolutely love the car service they provide to and from Universal! Its a $5 ride each way and you don't have to worry about paying to park or driving after a fun night out! I definitely will stay here again!

Good for your money

Hotel is good location if you are going to universal. Only a $5 taxi ride away or has free shuttle to all parks. Room is decent size and seemed clean. Inexpensive compared to other hotels. I have stayed twice and I would stay again. Just wish overnight parking for guests wasn't $15 per night I think that's a little excessive.

Double tree universal

Bed was nice and comfortable. Couch had multiple weird stains. Staff was quite rude. Transportation to universal stopped at 8:30. Do not think we will be staying there again.
