New, clean, and close to airport

Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, new, and modern...no issues. Swimming pool was a little smaller than we thought. Kids loved seeing planes come and go...but hotel was very quiet for being next to the airport. Convenient drive to Wringling, downtown, St. Armonds, and beaches. Good weekend get away for family.

Kids loved Mote Marine Aquarium and neighboring sea bird sancuary between St. Armonds Circle and Longboat Key. Huge manatee and the sharks were cool.

Lovely hotel with friendly people.

The employees were so friendly and greeted me each day when they saw me. The hotel was spotless and beautifully decorated. It is an attraction in itself with the glass elevators, railings and dome in the ceiling. I love the hotel rooms which were very warm and inviting. It has lots of amenities including an airport shuttle. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I need to make another trip to Sarasota.

Great Hotel

We liked it all... the interior design, the workout room, pool and saunas, the sports bar and restaurant, and the lovely room. The staff were always very nice and helpful. The food was good. But we really enjoyed the interior design throughout the hotel - well done!

A great place to stay--if you have a car

This is a bright, nicely decorated, modern, eco-friendly hotel with a very cordial staff. My room was clean and comfortable. Everyone I dealt with was helpful and affable. The sports bar has a good selection of food and drink (at normal hotel prices), and they had the World Cup games on their wide screens. I didn't use the pool, but it looked inviting. The only weak spot for me was the location on the far side of the airport. It's not near the other airport hotels (like the Hyatt) or the wonderfully Florida-ish '50s-style "motel row" on US 41. How I would have loved to walk to the classic Bahi Hut Tiki Bar.... Of course, I'm a weird American who doesn't like to have to drive everywhere. Most of my compatriots would probably assume that they would (a) have a car and (b) use it when going out to eat and play.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

I arrived on Sunday afternoon and didn't want to eat both lunch and dinner at the hotel's sports bar (even though the lunch there was good). The town was pretty quiet. I took University Ave over to the North Tamiami Trail that runs along the other side of the airport and found Primo Ristorante. It has good pizza and Italian food--mid-level in quality and price--in a fun atmosphere. A lot of people came in for take-out orders, and there were also couples and families in the restaurant. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the staff members' banter as they made pizzas and bustled around. Really pleasant and not far from the hotel.

Good Value for Airport Hotel

This is a contemporary style hotel. Good service, free business center available including printing, and very, very good beds. Slept like a baby. Only negative was the flourescent lighting in the bathroom is very harsh and difficult to see in putting on make-up. Otherwise, good value for the money. Did not hear planes even though very near airport.

Sarasota Holiday Inn Airport

It was a new property (open only a few months when I stayed there) and as such everything was in pretty good condition. I did not have a chance to use the facilities at the Hotel, but the room was clean and comfortable and the airport shuttle was ready to take me to the airport at 5 AM. Not the best location unless you are flying out of the airport or attending an event at the convention center associated with it.
