I was in town for a convention at UGA. The location was a bit further away form campus than some of the other hotels used, but it was a very nice property.

The pictures online don't exactly match up to what you see when you pull up. For the price, though, it was good. The room was clean, but seemed it hadn't been used in quite some time. My guess is that will change once football season starts. The location was decent and only a $8 cab ride to downtown athens.

The Hotel far exceeded my expectations! For this price and this hotel brand, I was expecting the minimum: clean comfortable and quiet. When I arrived at the Best Western, it was an attractive hotel. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, the room was clean and comfortable and nicely decorated - more along the lines of a Radisson or Country Inn. I will definitely be staying here again!

Flaw #1. Air conditioner blew directly over the extremely comfortable bed.
Flaw #2. Someone on the second level had a smoke party and flipped cigarettes all over my car and the parking lot below. Minimal damange.
It's eazier and quicker to list the two faults than all of the many great things about the hotel and wonderful staff. I would stay there again if I have a need to return to Athens

Hotel is in a great location! Close to the main strip of Athens. Short walk to all the shops, bars, and resturants. Clean rooms and comfy beds.

We were in Athens for a tour of the University. Our daughter will be a high school senior in the fall. The University was our first college tour on our list of colleges for the summer.
Checking for a nice hotel near the University was not difficult after reading the hotel guest reviews on the website for the Holiday Inn Express. I must say the hotel was very clean, staff was very friendly from the desk, dining area and room services. The room was exceptional, the smell was of newness, the lining and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was sparkling of cleanliness. I'm one that brings the Lysol liquid and spray for the bathroom/beds but everything was super clean. Yes, they did have remodeling going on but it was not where you could see/hear. Everything in the room worked. We were next to the University and walking distant to all of the restaurants and downtown shopping. Yes, we will recommend the hotel to our friends and family. Yes, we will return if our daughter chooses the University for the fall of 2012.

Slept great and enjoyed being so close that you could walk downtown. Would definitely stay here again. Did enjoy the breakfast buffet, but hear they will soon be re-doing it to a more expensive cafe style.

Hotel was fairly new - just a few years old, and was spotless. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was good. Nice breakfast buffet. Pool is small, but very clean and pleasant. Jaccusi jets were out of order when we were there, but otherwise, no complaints.

Pleasantly Above What We Needed

This hotel was located right across from the Classic Center where we were attending a wedding. It was the little extras like Neutrogena bath products, fast WiFi, and pool that made this a comfortable stay. We had no problems enjoying the Athens night life afterwards.
Beds were comfortable, but pillows were mehhh... $10/night parking...really?
We'd stay again without hesitation.

Wished hotel had a pool.
Found entrance to hotel confusing - signage would help.
Shower door squealed & could use some grease.
Vending machine had only liquids & nothing within 2+ blocks @ night for snacks.
Map from concierge was helpful to exploring town as was small booklet in room.
Maids were pleasant & helpful.

average. definately not great. this is not a very bad deal if all you plan on doing is sleping. i was late getting here due to a car accident. the phone in the room did not work so we could not get a wake up call.

Stayed two nights while working in Athens. Mainly needed a shower and a bed. You can tell the hotel is not new but the room was clean, comfortable and serviced each day. I especially liked the fact that after gaining entry to your room through a secure common hallway, each ground floor room has a sliding glass door just steps from your car for convenient loading/unloading. Staff was polite and helpful.

Had a hard time finding the road to park near the hotel. Had to make a U turn to get to the hotel entry. Chinese restaurant next to it (good for late night meals). Went to McD's for breakfast.

You get what you pay for. This is a very affordable hotel, especially on game days. It's definitely not the 4 seasons but a good value if you're just looking for a place to sleep. I didn't notice any of the things mentioned in the negative reviews.

I was in Athens to attend the SEC outdoor track meet at the U of Ga, and booked the room without having been to Athens before. Check-in was fast, and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Only surprise was that it was a handicap equipped room - no tub but walk into a curtained shower area. That said, the bed was king sized and the air conditioner didn't make noises. Breakfast was good with a wide selection. I would stay here again.

Nice hotel in Athens GA

This was a great hotel to stay at while we visited with our daughter attending UGA. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in a few other hotels in Athens and this was the best yet.

The hotel was in a very good location, close to the main roads, it was also very clean and the rooms were nice an roomy. The shower was nic although there was no tub, the two showers (high and low) were a great touch.
The breakfast was good but there weren't enough seats for all the people that went to breakfast.

We traveled for a wedding. I had no problem booking online. I had no trouble finding the hotel or checking in to the hotel. Got it for $80 a night. It was a nice room with 2 full size beds and nonsmoking. It was a nice room. The person on duty that night was nice when we were look for a pizza place. The person on duty the next morning when we wanted towels was not so helpful. We called down stairs and got no response and had to go down to get them. The breakfast was not so great. Coffee was ok, the canned fruit was ok and the muffins were ok but it was nothing special lol no waffles or donuts or anything. We had no trouble checking out the next day. Everything was clean and nice and with no noise problems. Beds and pillows were very comfortable I wanted to take a pillow but I didnt!
