best hotel in ATL

outstanding service and beautiful facility. The hotel offers exceptional rooms, with terrificly attentive staff (including a nice BMW to drop you off around town) and a very good restaurant and lounge. It is smaller and less bustling than the bigger convention oriented hotels by the Georgia Congress center that are loud and very public, so makes for a more intimate and special experience. I plan on staying here again next time I'm in Atlanta.

Nice but 5 Star

It was my daughter's 9th birthday and I wanted to do something special. For my son's birthday in February we stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead and had a fantastic time. I told them at check in that it was his birthday and before we could get to the room they had delivered baloons, terrific cookies, and candy. Even the man at the door wished him a happy birthday. I noticed that the Four Seasons would do many of the same things if they were made aware that I had my kids with me and it was her birthday. Three weeks prior to our arrival I called and I was told that they would make it very special for her. I have to say that I was disappointed from check in when I noticed they had my address completely wrong. To the woman at the desk I mentioned it was her birthday and I was assured that they were aware. The lady was nice but didn't deliver on anything. When we got to the room we found it nice but nothing special. Frankly, it looked a little worn. I was told that they would have children's toiletries, robes, and other surprises for them but there were none. I went back down to the desk and mentioned what we found and I was told that they would be provided at turn down time and the chaise lounge would be made up for my son. I told them we decided to go to dinner and a movie and would be back at 8 and if they could turn down the bed and do the other things at 7. When we returned at 8:15, only the cupcake for my daughter and cookies for my son were in the room. Once again I went down to the desk to ask for those things and about 15 minutes later someone knocked at my door and asked what assistance I needed. I once again had to explain and although she left and came back with sheets and a blanket for the chaise, she forgot the childrens robes and no kids toiletries ever arrived. Before we left I wanted to take her picture in the lobby with the tiara that she had with her just like she was a real princess. The man in the gift shop gave her a plastic frog and I took her picture kissing it on the grand stairs. In a small room to the side there were beautiful orchids and I was going to take her picture there. That is, until I was told that was a private lobby for the residents of the "tower". I don't recall a part of the Ritz where I was told I was not welcome in what appeared to be a common area. I know that these things are small but the expectations were set that the service would be exceptional and we just didn't get it.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Atlantic Station is just a short distance and they have the Bodies exhibit, Dialogue in the Dark, and several really good restaurants and shopping stores. They also have a good movie theater.
