Summation: noisy, may not be kid friendly when there are drunk people around, close to many places, parking is $10/day and only 1 car allowed per room, staff is friendly and helpful, close to food and sites. Just be ready for noise and disturbances throughout the night. I read the other reviews and knew what I was getting into so I was prepared for most of the noise. To elaborate: This hotel is in a section of town with a lot of traffic. If you come from a place where you deal with a lot of street noise, like I do, then it's not a big deal. There is also a "noise" machine in the room that helps drown out some of the outside noise. The staff person asked if I wanted a quiet room, which I said I would like. Unfortunately she thought that the room on the first floor, just outside of the elevator and common seating area would be quiet for some reason. (This would apply to rooms 101 to 106 or 107.) It wasn't quiet because that's where smokers and drunks congregate. I anticipated street noise, not that. It wasn't too bad on the week days, but I had to listen to the ramblings and shouting of drunks on Friday and Saturday night. The "noise" machine and air conditioner were not enough to drown out the noise. The cleaning crew makes a lot of noise banging their carts and shouting to each other in the mornings so don't expect to sleep in. Other than that it was an acceptable hotel. Perhaps staying in a room on the back side of the hotel might be quieter. It is close to the nightlife (which is good and bad). Since the rates are pretty good, it draws young people on the weekends. They are drunk, pile in a room, and sometimes make huge messes in the middle of the night. (One had stomach issues and made a mess on the balcony above me. This caused the security guard to go hunting for him.) As long as you can deal with these things, then it's an ok place to stay. If not, perhaps a place a little further from Bay St. would be better. The rest of the historic district, a few blocks from Bay St., seemed very quiet at night.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are a ton of places to eat along Bay St., River St., and City Market. They are very close and you don't have to worry about driving. There was a fairly wide variety of food including local and chain restaurants. It also gives you an opportunity to see some sites on the way.

The outside of it is not really impressive, but the inside is awesome. The rooms are spacious and are better than some of the more expensive chains I have stayed at. The bathroom was especially impressive. Very large. Appreciated the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Staff helpful.

If you don't plan to leave the historic district, there is no need for a car. Taking a cab from the airport is much easier than trying to find parking anywhere!

Close to fun

close to the fun part of town . Some staff members could be a little more understanding , we were denied a late checkout for no apparent reason , the hotel was not even booked for the weekend and they wouldn't budge on working with us the price to stay a few more days.

"Convenient location, Great room!"

The room was spacious and the bathroom was huge...even nicer than the room and bath we had in a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was good with lots of variety. This hotel was right within walking distance of the river walk and historic district. We were very pleased with our stay...probably the nicest 3 star room I've ever had!!

Great location, neat room, hidden fees

The hotel is in a great location right near the main river front. The room was clean and well-appointed. The continental breakfast was on par with other hotels. The only drawback is the unadvertised $10.00 "parking" fee.

Not a good pick!

A hotel located in the historic district sound like a romantic getaway for our 10 year anniversary. It was anything but that! We received a letter right "after" we checked in which advised us to take extra security precautions, warned of the noise, and informed us that if we checked out early, we would not get our money back. What they don't tell you in the brochures or online sites is that the hotel is right next to a fire station and on a main street that has truck traffic all night long! We tried to stick it out but we finally gave in and decided to check out one day early on a three night stay. They were true to their word and would not refund us for the night we did not use.
