Never again
Although the location is great and the amenities are OK, the staff, with a couple of exceptions, are rude and inattentive. Housekeeping consists of changing towels and making the bed, changing sheets every third day or so...AND THAT IS ABOUT IT! from outside the bathroom, I could see where I had been walking because the floor was never swept. Dust was collecting in my room so bad that I bought a Swiffer to do my own dusting. Vacuuming was done about 5 times during my visit (mind you I was in Honolulu on business from 06SEP11 to 01DEC11). When it was time to check out, not only could I not get a late checkout, but was told if I was going to my work that morning that I would need to check out at 5:00am! Do yourself a favor...pick another property. You'll be glad you did.

Nice Location
We booked a full ocean view room with kitchenette. Was a bit apprehensive when we entered the hotel as the lobby and lift were pretty dated. The room was newly done and we could view the ocean between the two Hyatt Regency hotel buildings. Location of this hotel is very good - almost all tour operators pick up from Hyatt that is 2 minutes walk away. Our room had a small balcony just enough to fit the chair so we would have our morning tea viewing the ocean. Could not keep the sliding door open while sleeping because of the traffic noise. Kitchenette was good with sufficient number of pots and pans. Wish they could include a medium size microwavable bowl. Housekeeping service was good - the beds were made everyday and the towels replaced. We did not use the DVD rental etc. facility - no point in being a couch potato when you are right on the ocean. So did not utilize the $10/day resort fee. My only complain is they charge an exorbitant $20/day for parking. The parking slots are very small and you see the towing trucks doing regular rounds of the garage. Also you need to pay everyday to extend your parking time. We parked at Waikiki Banyan and got a great deal $60/ 7 days and we could pay at once for 7 days. Overall a good experience with this place and would return again but park elsewhere :-).

Good holiday but disappointed with accommodation
The location of this hotel is really good. Walking distance from the beach at Waikiki, tons of ABC stores for most of the stuff you would need. Most tours pick you from this hotel. I had booked Studio Ocean View with Kitchenette and paid premium as well for that... and what I got was a partial Ocean view - bummer! When I confronted the hotel, they informed that they only give partial ocean view for a studio - the full ocean view was for 1BR rooms. I should blame Orbitz for this - they shouldnt have offered this room at all if the hotel doesnt give one!! Reading earlier reviews, I was conscious of car parking here - took a tape and stuck the parking receipt on the windshield - didnt face any issues.

Great location, great value
Great location and a good value. Nothing fancy, but a clean nicely furnished room at a very reasonable price for it's location. We stayed for two nights to see the sights in Honolulu and it was perfect for that. Walking distance to Waikiki beach. Staff was very friendly and parking in unattached ramp was convenient and reasonably priced. If you are looking for a resort with all the amenities you may want look elsewhere but for a clean and reasonably priced hotel/condo you can't go wrong here.

Great location as it is a short 2 blocks
I walked along the beach, went to outdoor concerts. I went on tours and visited friends here in Honolulu. I did not have a car and it worked fine but if you want to snorkel a car would be good to have for a day or two.

Pacific Monarch Bait and Switch?
Very unhappy with thisexperience. I have stayed at the Pacific Monarch before and wanted SPECIFICALLY to stay there. Had a 1 bedroom ocean view reserved thru [...]. On arrival, was informed that all of the rooms of the type we booked were not available and we had been moved to the Aston Waikiki Sunset (which is about 3 blocks east and a block further from the beach) at the same price. The Aston is NOT in the same class as the Pacific Monarch accomodations and should have been reduced just to accomodate the inconvenience. The Aston is ok, but is at best a 1 1/2 star condo, with a small pool that get little sun, no whirlpool and rather dated rooms (no flat screens, although several of the hotel's pictures show them). I also just checked Aston's rates online and we got a lower quality room (1 bedroom "superior" instead of the 1 bedroom "oceanview" that was booked at the Pacific Monarch). The staff was nice though.I have been to Honolulu over 50 times in the last 20 years and this is the first time this has happened.

Do not book the Pacific Monarch thru [...]. Although we were given a room at another Aston property, it appears that it was somewhat of a bait and switch operation by Aston.
