Kauai trip
Wished we would have stayed at the Sheraton the whole time we were in Kauai, it was wonderful. We had an ocean front room on the west wing. Beautiful view, quiet, and really comfortable. The Rum Fire restaurant was very good, ocean front, but not the biggest portions. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, massages, and of course...the beach.

I would have been ok without an ocean front room, as the beaches are so close. Also, be sure to stop at a grocery store, or market, to stock up on snacks, fruit, and whatever you need. And check out any farmers markets. We found one in Hanalei, it was nice.

Rest and Relaxation!”
After reading the mixed reviews a few months ago from when the property was under renovation, I was pleased to see the recent positive reviews of the results of these changes. I'm a fan of Sheraton hotels and have always received excellent service being a Starwood Preferred Guest member. Our flight got in early morning, so we called ahead to see if early check in was available. We weren't able to check in around 11am, but in the meantime, we had full access to the resort and were given complimentary drink coupons to have mai tais at the Lava Lounge, complimentary valet parking the first day and ton of resort activities. You're paying a $30 resort charge, so take advantage of all the "complimentary" services and activities. Definitely visit the concierge desk to get info about Kauai and surrounding restaurants/places on interest. Also, they will give you a reusable bag when you do shopping. Kauai has eliminated the usage of plastic bags for all vendors, so be sure to grab one otherwise you'll be doing a juggling act. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a nice view overlooking the garden side pool and ponds.Beds were super comfortable and we slept like babies. First day was bright and sunny, so we drove along the West side, Waimea Canyon and South shores. Second day was rainy and dreary but driving was still spectacular being able to see waterfalls on the faces of the mountain. Hanalei is a peaceful and magical place to drive to. Very lush and tropical. All in all, it was an enjoyable Anniversary and we have nothing but praise for Sheraton Kauai. Mahalo nui loa to Zana (front desk) and Cynthia (concierge) for their excellent customer service. Aloha!

Standard looking room with updated furniture/decor but a gorgeous view of the beach just steps from our balcony. The new restaurant "Rum Fire" had delicious food, a wonderful atmosphere and amazing views. I found one of the concierge ladies less than helpful and rude. Other than that, the staff were helpful and kind. It would be more accommodating if there were 24/hour room service available or somewhere to grab a snack.

If you enjoy the outdoors and prefer to cook your own food, rent a cottage or vacation home! Save money by not staying on a resort eating overpriced cuisine.

1st Time in Hawaii
This was a really nice hotel in a great location. South Shore puts you right in the middle of the island as far as driving is concerned. These are also the only swimmable beaches in the winter. My only complaint are the pillows. Super soft and provide no support. I had a stiff neck every morning.

If you have never tried paddle boarding I would strongly recommend giving it a try. We went to Hawaiian Surfing Adventures in Hanalei Bay. Helpful and friendly staff and great eats down the street at Calypso.

Beautiful vacation, location, etc. However, when it was time to check out, I felt blind-sided with the bill. The hotel imposed a $30/day charge for "resort fee". Despite their explanation of giving us a brochure upon our arrival that explained the fee, we did not receive that brochure and even if we did we felt it would have been incumbent upon them to tell us before we booked the room. We went to this particular resort, because it was a resort. FYI, they blamed you. They said it you were a third party and it was your responsibility to explain the fee.

Relaxing in Paradise
Every need was met in a timely manner, from valet parking to room amenities. The facilities were flawlessly maintained. We only saw the gardeners one time - I do not know how they do it! The hotel staff was very courteous and friendly, each time we saw them. The concierge was very knowledgeable and super friendly. She printed out lists of activities for us. Even lists of markets and events. The yoga classes were fun and we really enjoyed lei making. What a special treat. We were even able to bring our leis home with us. We enjoyed the Links Cafe. The staff was super friendly and the food there was great - especially the soup. And the fresh loaves of banana nut bread were awesome! I ate one every day.

Do not get a rental car. Its way cheaper to pay a taxi a couple of times than to pay outrageous amounts on a rental car. Plus there is 2 shopping centers withing walking distance of the hotel complete with amazing food and shops!

Nice Poipu location
Hotel is in great location on beach in Poipu, We had unfortunate weather during our short stay so hardly took advantage of the hotel's amenities. Good snorkeling available next door at Poipu Beach State Park. Security staff was very helpful in attempting to locate a left behind phone charger. Be aware that a $30/day "resort fee" is added to the room cost, and is not optional, so that the room price is really $30 more than what you think it is.

Great location, poor hotel
The staff at the Sheraton were great, helpful and accommodating. The setting is beautiful. But the rooms resemble a freeway motel. There was sand in our room and a horrible smell. Also the facilities are overrun, and you have to get up early to save a beach recliner or buy a cabana, which was often already booked. Staying here felt unrestful.

Good location, amazing room!
First the great. The room was impeccable. We had a great view of the ocean and away from the main pool area. Though it was still in the main building. The room itself was really nice. Very clean, and the staff was very friendly. The good. The location of the hotel is good, though it does not have a private beach. This is the only ding. Otherwise, the pool itself was pretty good, but a little crowded. Very close to the Shops at KukuUliae which has a number of great restaurants there for both lunch and dinner. Very convenient.
