Great Ames location with easy highway access and minutes from Iowa State University. Features include: Indoor pool with hot tub. Free Wireless High Speed Internet in all rooms and public areas. Deluxe breakfast includes - asst: cereal, fruit, pastries, breads, bagels, english muffins and juice. Also included are fresh waffles, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, milk and Royal Cup coffee. All rooms include: iron/iron board, coffeemaker, hair dryer, full length mirror, cable TV w/HBO, AM/FM clock radio. Free passes to local fitness center avail at desk. Pet accomodation: 15USD per night, per pet.

front desk barely spoke to us when checking in, but was more helpful later in the evening; room was fine; bathroom very small - definitely no room for 2 people at once; breakfast was pretty decent - had stuff to make a sausage & egg muffin sandwich

Perfect for our needs

We were in town to visit Iowa State. We just needed a place to stay for one night. We wanted something inexpensive but clean and quiet. We also wanted a continental breakfast so we could get out right away in the morning. This suited our purpose perfectly. The room and bathroom were very clean. The sheets were crisp and smelled slightly of bleach which told me they were very clean. I also noticed that there was a germ cover that encased the mattress. With the recent bed bug scare I appreciated this. The hotel staff was pleasant. The noise level was not too bad considering how close we were to the highway. The breakfast was good and it was nice that it included a waffle machine. The only complaint is the smokers standing outside the side and front doors and the main level hallway could use some new carpet - there was a slight odor. Otherwise, perfect. Thank you!

economy motel feel

Breakfasts were good and they kept area's clean, staff attentive. Hot tub almost unusable with the blower/fan that buzzed so loud you couldn't enjoy using the tub. There was almost zero water pressure in the showers. So bad, it was hard to rinse soap out of your hair.

Easy Access

We stayed just one night because we were traveling. The room was clean and very nice. Free internet was a plus. The Sheraton we had stayed in previously, charged for internet in the rooms.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Not any restaurants close to Motel, only a DQ and Subway. 5-10 Miles to find a nice place to eat.

Disappointed

We had stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago and it was fine, not fancy but good service and comfortable room. The air conditioner didn't work but the weather was ok. This time we started to check in and noticed a sign that said pool was closed for repairs. That is the main reason that we booked this hotel. We endend up going to another motel with no pool but 20.00 a night cheaper and nicer rooms.

Good Buy

Good location, nice to have breakfast free, I would have liked the air conditioning to work better, I couldn't get it to cool,

Better This Time

Last time we stayed at the Ames, IA Comfort Inn, we were very dissatisfied with many things. We decided to give it another chance. What a pleasant surprise!!! We had an awesome room, very clean and quiet. It had a very comfortable chair for relaxing, a desk and chair, two suitcase stands and there was a fridge and microwave in the room, too. The bathroom had a huge counter, we could set up my wife's makeup case and my shaving kit with room to spare. The bathroom was very clean. The front desk people were so friendly and attentive this time. The continental breakfast was very tasty with a great assortment of goodies. The pool was still very chlorinated, kind of burned our eyes, but realize it must be kept clean for everyone. We will be happy to stay with them again.
