Hotel Julien Dubuque

Great layout, near the winery and casino. Carolines, the in house resturant, had a great atmosphere and waitstaff.

Originally looked at a bed and breakfast for an overnight stay. Found Hotel Julien and it was fantastic. I wish that we would have stayed two nights to enjoy all that this establishment offered. The resturant food and staff were amazing!! We will definetly make this a repeat getaway!!

The Hotel Julien provided everything necessary for a great romantic getaway. The staff was extremely courteous, answered our questions and made excellent recommendations regarding local restaurants and shopping. My wife had a wonderful experience in the hotel spa and they were extremely gracious later in our stay when they fixed a nail she had chipped while swimming in the lovely indoor pool. Caroline's, the hotel restaurant, served a wonderful filet mignon for dinner and sent deliciously prepared breakfast to our room. Our room was beautifully decorated and clean and ammenities were very generous given the price. The only remotely negative thing I could say about our experience is that our room, which faced the street, got kind of noisy later at night when the crowd formed at the bar across the street. Small complaint really, in the grand scheme of things. We look forward to returning in the future.q

The only thing that I was surprised that the hotel did not have in my room was a microwave.

Went there for a few days for a getaway. Lots of stuff to do all in walking distance. Was a great place and great trip!

We spent two nights at the Julien in an executive room with 2 queen beds. The location of this hotel was great; right downtown and just minutes away from the Port of Dubuque. We were able to visit the Stone Cliff winery and the casino, as well as a few local bars and restaurants. In true mid-west fashion, the April weather was more like winter than spring and we were not able to walk as much as we had hoped. Unfortunately after arriving back at the hotel on Saturday night around 9, we were not able to find a parking space in the hotel lot. The hotel was recently upgraded and beautifully done. The room was very spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable and we never heard any noise from other guests. From our room we had a great view of the river and the bridge. We had breakfast at Caroline's; the food and service was amazing! The fitness room had nice equipment and after all the eating we did, we were thankful it was available. Our stay at the hotel was great. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing girl's weekend away and it was exactly what we found. We are already talking about going back and making the trip a yearly event!

This hotel is incredible. We have stayed at a few prestigous hotels that claim to be the best, and I'll tell you, none are better than the Hotel Julien. It is so classic and romantic and elegant. Everything was perfect, clean, and convenient, I wish we could stay there every weekend!

We made our reservations for two queen beds and asked for the TV to be removed, prior to our stay. Upon arriving there, we were given a room that a full/queen sized bed and a very large TV in the room. Our room overlooked the rooftop. It was a pleasant hotel, considering their extensive remodeling, but the reservation information did not reflect what had been requested. Mistakes do happen.
