Iowa City Travelodge

This hotel was convenient for me, was just off i80. Good value for money, clean, breakfast was not so great. 4/5 overall :-)

I was looking for a cheap room in Iowa City when I booked this dump, it was so bad I left...mattress was about 25 years old, pillows probably had mold in them and were completely flat, carpet was visibly unclean, beer bottles were left in the corner and were growing mold, towels were old and didn't seem clean, only bar soap in the bathroom, paper thin walls, smelled like old smoke (in a non-smoking room), and the person at the front desk was completely rude and unprofessional. Although it's cheap, you definitely get what you pay for. I couldn't bring myself to sleep in that bed and checked out early, which was the best idea I've ever had.

Water was really gross in the hot tub--could try changing it at least every year or so. Waffles, bagels, and coffee were the entire breakfast selection. Rooms fine.

If you're just looking for a cheap room it's ok, but the hotel is badly in need of repair and update. Faucets leak, doors don't open...but the bed was good.

The room had been broken into prior to our visit and they only patched repaired it. No security latches replaced. Very noisy, Pool dirty, Hot tub cloudy and dirty, noisy hotel, breakfast room trashed at 9pm with no breakfast left. Phone not working, Seemed like no quality control whatsoever. NO WAY I would go back. Prefer a Motel 6 at this point over the experience I had.

The entire facility was dirty and dingy. The room was even worse. The towels were stained and the shower had hair all over it. If the decrepit state of the room doesn't bother you the incredibly disrespectful people in the other rooms will. It is totally worth the extra $20+ a night to avoid this place and stay at another hotel.

...it's a real deal. Friendly, helpful staff. The room was fine -- not elegant, but just what I needed. And the location was good for me.

Hotel was dirty! We did not let my son go swimming because the pool area seemed extra dirty! Hallways were super cold like the heat was not on in the hallway at all, our curtain was holey and was being held together with binder clips, the mattresses were extremely old and way too soft, and the bedding was very old as well.

Manager Jerry is the most congenial, hospitable host imaginable. I observed him making not only my party, but all the other guests as well, feel like old friends and guests in his home. A wonderful employee! All the other staff members were also friendly and hospitable.
